asking on behalf of a fren now checking 65" A80J, A90J.

he said the extended warranty to 5 years from one dealer is +18% or so.

does anyone know if this is normal?

what about X80J, X90J... the extended warranty cost?

Hi guys

Bought the X85J, intends to hook this to my 9 yrs old avr system. On the TV, I want to audio fro playing to output at the avr instead of TV speakers. The hdmi connection between the TV and amplifier is OK. I've tv box setup and it's all working well so far. It's just the audio fro Netflix ie fro the TV is not being output thru the avr. What am I missing? A toslink cable or some settings as I've googling without success

TV price range depend on the price we buy from the shop or sony retail price? For example, sony retail price might be 5k, but i buy the TV from the shop at the discount price 3.5k. so i need to look at price range 3-4k or 4-5k for the extended warranty range price?

For older AVR that doesn't support eARC or Dolby Digital Plus via ARC, disable eARC and set Dolby Digital Plus to Dolby Digital in the TV audio output settings. These settings work for old AVR via TOSLINK. I use TOSLINK as I find it more reliable than ARC which relies on CEC that sometimes gets disconnected due to some connected STBs.

I notice in newer Sony Android TVs, Netflix constantly outputs Dolby Digital 5.1 even when no 5.1 content is playing. It's mentioned in this link. This might cause Netflix app to act differently in certain configurations.

dun worry too much - toslink isn't demanding, just average cost one will do.

i am using 2 of them - one very old, one newer - same result.

Generally for TOSLINK, any cable will do. As long as not too cheap until it is loose, easily broken or have signal loss. The one in that link looks okay.

Thanks guys, further reading confirms the same using Toslink cable from tv to avr to resolve my problem. It'll be a waste if I can't enjoy dolby vision with boom boom sound

How they judge the TV price? Is it base on purchasing price or the price stated in Sony website?

By the way, I am looking for X90J 50"... After long survey in lazada/shopee during 10.10, cheapest I can find is around RM4,250.... Can it go even lower??

The price for the extended warranty that you need to pay will be calculated based on your TV purchase price. Sony will ask for your invoice or receipt when you request to purchase the extended warranty from them.

As for X90J 55" I've managed to grab it from Lazada at RM3,999 few months ago. Maybe can wait for 11.11 to see if you can grab similar prices.

let's hope some nice discounts for 11.11!

but somehow, i'm not too optimistic... currents reports of apple forced to cut production, AVR makers facing chip shortage.

+ shipping, oil, gas, commodity prices skyrocketing... shakehead.gif

I think I saw somewhere whereby some one say Harvey Norman has some older stock Panasonic OLED not much difference from that price? May be worth a check out. GZ1000 or something like that.
