True. PRC would have to pay higher in the short-run but long-run it will be cheaper because PRC is expanding gas import from Russia and Central Asia (Turkmenistan if not mistaken). Not impossible but china may need to buy at higher price in spot market.
In the end, this is necessary because Australia is a potential strategic threat. Better to stop relying on Australia right now than during a potential Pacific War.
