Buterin sent 500 ETH and 10% of his SHIB tokens — some 50.6 trillion tokens — to Crypto Covid, a relief fund for India. He also gave 49 trillion AKITA to Ethereum-focused grants program Gitcoin's community multisig. While these tokens have a paper value of $1.1 billion and $443 million, respectively, they are fairly illiquid. For example, AKITA could only be sold for around $5 million on decentralized exchange Uniswap.

He also gave 500 ETH to Charter Cities, which looks to support charter cities around the world.

So shady! Vitalic isn't donating his money, he donates shitcoin he received for free from "anonymous" shitcoin developers.

Not a good time to go in doge because doge is a fork of Litecoin which is fork of Bitcoin, all uses proof of work which needs mining machines so will consume more energy than proof of stake

If he cancel btc payment option because of energy consumption and then add doge, he'll be the biggest laughing stock

Perhaps you can consider that the anonymous shitcoin developer may be Vitalik himself.

Then it all makes sense.

Yes it uses less power than btc but btc is a 1 trillion market cap coin as well, doge has never been extremely stress tested. Nevertheless Elon did just announce he's working with devs to improve Doge and also Coinbase is going to list Doge soon... so that's good news for you!

Nevertheless, proof of work (mining) coins will always use higher energy compared to proof of stake coins which doesn't need high cost machinery and electricity to run. Eg. ETH will be moving from POW to POS soon possibly this year (First London hardfork for EIP1559 and then later on ETH2.0)
