I need to core 2 6-inch holes on the balcony wall for fresh air system ducting. It took the project team 3 weeks to reply in a letter that there’s a beam there hence coring isn’t allowed. At least 3/4 of the wall is sliding doors so I’m assuming it’s not load bearing. I wonder if I can core lower to avoid the beam and how much lower usually. I’ve sent a follow up enquiry which might take another 3 weeks to hear back.

How do you intend to counter technical specs and want to take risk ?

No that’s not my intention. I understand the beam can’t be cored. Can’t we core below it (the non-beam wall)?
