My laptop = old illegear s7 with gtx 980m and hdmi port.

usage = daily job = saham / forex chart .. gaming = dota 2 only ..

budget = rm800 maybe.

dont know if my old gtx 980m can support 1080p 144hz gaming via hdmi port..

what the most balance monitor for me?

aiming for this brand due to massive review.

AOC 24G2

ACER NITRO XV240YP

or any better suggestion ?

If not wrong it should be similar as Z5 which the HDMI is version 1.4

If it is version 1.4, then YES it is support 1920x1080 at 144hz but NO if you plan on Ultrawide 2560x1080. For 2560x1080 only support up to 90hz (using custom resolution).

If the HDMI is version 2.0, then no issue for 144hz in 1920x1080 or 2560x1080.

I not sure on those as I never use before. You see my signature you will know I am LG fans. Haha!

But for value one, I only have one model but that is not 144hz. Others monitors I use all above your budget.

Im personally using AOC 24G2 that i bought just recently about 2 months ago at Viewnet lowyat plaza for rm719. So far so good.
Just a minor complain for my unit is that at the top right corner got a backlight bleed that is very obvious on pitched black scene. I think it is good enough for ur intended usage.
