I am assuming you want to do the fsb mod for c2d right? well, you need an silver conductive pen or a pcb repair pen

connecting these two pins should not be a problem without the conductive pen.. why not use a fine wire to jump these two pins.. I have used this method to OC my lappie last time.. works like a charm. It was a centrino 1.8Ghz 400Mhz btw

I think basically this pencil mod is useful with mobo that doesnt have oc settings.. all it does bump the cpu setting to run bus speed at 333mhz instead of 266mhz on Auto.and the OC capability between of 2,almost same 1 i think.....(current me if i m wrong) and if u no a heavy user sure can wait until the time..... |

for the last time, pencil will not do the trick, mainly because it doesnt conduct well enough, and you dont want graphite falling into your LGA socket would you?
its mainly useful because instead of booting up at say 200fsb, you now boot at 266fsb, good for mobo's without oc options =) |

Off topic:
If u r looking for conductive pen or stuff, get some arctic silver 5. Its electrical conductivity is good enough for oc applications. Works well for Athlon XP to Athlon XP-M conversion; bridge closing. This post has been edited by ff7yta: Sep 17 2007, 11:35 AM |

Tried and tested....some mobo fail to detect the CPU after pin modding it. So its not a 100% working process even though the pins are modded correctly. Works best with a C2D 4300 proc....modding it to 1333FSB helps surpass the FSB wall. Other FSB procs like 1066FSB ones are just not worth the effort modding to 1333FSB..there is basically no gain.
Anyway...Artic Silver 5 would not work though its electrically conductive....still not good enough for pin modding. Conductive pen or silver pen is the best choice. |

QUOTE(dj.eRicZzz @ Sep 23 2007, 12:23 AM) no u cannot use it on the ram itself, but there are ways to bump the ram vdimm voltage with a 2b pencil on the motherboard or soldering a potand you can vmod a gfx card (vgpu and vmem) with a 2b pencil although some require more then a pencil mod(soldering, conductive pen etc..) |

Why not use wire mod? just use a thin string of wire then tie up those 2 pins together. But problem is to shift the wire away from the pin between that 2 pins. No marks and can be remove easily.

first thing...pencil mod on the rams itself is just not worth doing...no gain at all. The mod only mess with the Eeprom of the ram to make show higher speed ram.
As for CPU pin mod...use conductive pen. LGA775 no more pins. Wire mod works for pinned CPUs only. In fact, conductive pen marks can be removed easily too...just use nail varnish remover. This post has been edited by extremeocer: Sep 27 2007, 09:08 PM |

It works on my AthlonXP (ages ago). Conductive pen can be used but you need one which has a fine tip and you have to be very sharp.
Good luck |

QUOTE(clawhammer @ Oct 12 2007, 05:21 PM) You can get it from Pasar Road electrical shops but based from my experience, pencil works just as well Pencil only works on those Athlon XP where you just join the bridges. Pencil mod DOESN'T work on LGA775. Tried and tested with 5 types of pencil (HB, 2B, 3B, 4B and 5B). Whereas the conductive silver pen works like charm. Its also easy to remove. |
