if u fail to conduct the pins u wanted, u can or might kill ur processor, and that is why you need to put a tape over the other pins when doing the mod, so yeah, do follow the instructions as most bsel mod guides will ask you to put a tape over the other pins =)

Off topic:
If u r looking for conductive pen or stuff, get some arctic silver 5. Its electrical conductivity is good enough for oc applications. Works well for Athlon XP to Athlon XP-M conversion; bridge closing.

Tried and tested....some mobo fail to detect the CPU after pin modding it. So its not a 100% working process even though the pins are modded correctly. Works best with a C2D 4300 proc....modding it to 1333FSB helps surpass the FSB wall. Other FSB procs like 1066FSB ones are just not worth the effort modding to 1333FSB..there is basically no gain.

Anyway...Artic Silver 5 would not work though its electrically conductive....still not good enough for pin modding. Conductive pen or silver pen is the best choice.

no u cannot use it on the ram itself, but there are ways to bump the ram vdimm voltage with a 2b pencil on the motherboard or soldering a pot

and you can vmod a gfx card (vgpu and vmem) with a 2b pencil although some require more then a pencil mod(soldering, conductive pen etc..)

Why not use wire mod? just use a thin string of wire then tie up those 2 pins together. But problem is to shift the wire away from the pin between that 2 pins. No marks and can be remove easily.

first thing...pencil mod on the rams itself is just not worth doing...no gain at all. The mod only mess with the Eeprom of the ram to make show higher speed ram.

As for CPU pin mod...use conductive pen. LGA775 no more pins. Wire mod works for pinned CPUs only. In fact, conductive pen marks can be removed easily too...just use nail varnish remover.
