unker science in 1 and 0 nia.. physics score A1, but end up used for repairing toilet and door DIY.

inb4 claimed imbalance from firing order. clearly u can balance 3 cylinders positionally. so why must 3 cyl fire solo cyl, then double? Cannot fire 1,2,3 then u have rotary force no? Based on my toilet flush tank understanding la..

petrol cycle, every 4th stroke is a power/combustion stroke. with 4 cylinders only one cylinder is in power stroke at any one time. with three cylinders....they will be a cylinder overlap their power stroke with another cylinder....

Well le question is, even if you got 4 stroke, can't the 4 strokes be adjusted accordingly on each of the cylinder? Or simply because too much hassle? inb4 all these vvti, vtec la etc etc clearly spell teknology to be dynamic ma..
Battery low time, otak jadi sot sot ckit ni..

If crankshaft offset is 120°, then u'll have 3 power strokes for 1 crank rotation. This 1 & 2+3 firing order is a weird ass design.

was going to type long long but RGRaj got it. I think your friend got confused, modern engines can fire the sparkplug at the optimum moment, no need to have 'waste spark' or contract breaker type ignition that would necessitate 1& 2+3 firing. It will still be imbalance because two cylinders power stroke will be overlapping at any given moment.
