In general, the number of cylinders in a vehicle's engine = cc, corresponds to the weight or size of the vehicle. Eg 1-cylinder in cub-chai motorbikes, 2 cylinders in big bikes, 4-cylinders in sedan cars and 6 to 8-cylinders in 4WD trucks or small lorries.
In general, turbo-charging for faster speeds is used mostly in luxury sports-cars and racing cars because of high fuel consumption.
From the 2000s onward, it has been a trend by car manufacturers to replace normal-aspirated 4-cylinder engines in sedan cars with cheaper and smaller turbo-charged 3-cylinder engines, in order to increase profits. Consumers lose with higher fuel consumption, especially for city-driving in traffic jams, because without turbo-charging(= at slow speeds), such a 3-cylinder engined sedan car is quite under-powered for its weight.
