Hi All.

Hope to get some views in this.

I have XDS AFB320 (2x8 speed), thinking of buying another FB and give the XDS to my son. Budget around RM1.5k, 2K max looking at used FB. Not hardcore (yet), cycle around taman for exercise purposes.

Have options Camp victor (11S), TRS Rochet (10S, with some upgrades), both around 1.5k. wondering whether shd I explore and pay more for well-known brands eg Dahon, Tern, Fnhon? With the 1.5k, specs won't b compatible with TRS and Camp.

Thanks in advance for your reply. Cheers.

Wow, 2k can get new bike for camp xlite plus😂

I am fnhon user and quite satisfied with light weight .

HI. I'm targeting fnhon as well, but mostly above 2k. Wat is fnhon frame famous for, light weight?

I noticed many brands out there using the 'same' frame eg Camp, Crossmac, TRS, Pacific etc. So, wat matters r all the other parts of bicyle provided in the model rite?

BTW, Camp x-lite plus seems quite attractive and light as well. Any idea what other brand/model using the same frame?

Cheers.

city ride, no problem. distance is just a number. if u wanna explore more than city, or go touring some mods needed
*
Understood. smile.gif

If mods, wat r those recommended? Change to external gear?

If change to external gear, wat r the parts needed? Let's say I target 9 speed (Shimano Sora), I need to have the shifter, derailleur and hub bearing, wat else ya? Any idea the cost?

Cheers.

the easiest way it to mod ur crankset to double. shifter/cable/fd/hanger are needed besodes double chainring crankset.

if u change to external gear, many mods needed
wheelset/rd/shifter/hanger/cables. why in the 1st place u need to buy internal gear if u plan to change it later?

HI Sir, actually m considering an used Oyama trifold with 3 speed internal hub. haven pull the trigger yet. in dilemma due to 'limited' speed, afraid it will be 'backward' from my XDS AFB320 (16 speed). sweat.gif
If i ever pulled the trigger and in future discover difficulties to 'climbing hill', add the crankset, adding to double will make it 3 x 2 speed, just like the pikes (6 speeds) rite?

Cheers.

thanks for all input. really appreciate it and learning at the same time.

Any user's feedback on Trinx Flybird 2.0? 2x8 speed, same as my XDS, but light weight around 10kg+-. Used unit at RM1k.

...2 (42T & 52T) x 8 (11T-25T) speed consider more than enough for leisure ride rite? if wanna improve the 'climbing', change cog to higher eg 32T? or to gain better speed, change to higher chainring eg 56T? Sorry for the noob questions.

if a bike is standard specs, what are main and immediate 'upgrades' to consider; wheelset (rim & hub), crankset, tyre, and follow by light weight accessories eg seatpost, handle, pedals,...

i dont know flybird using 406 or 451 wheelset. too my folding bike in the market nowdays.
but
consider it as 406, maybe u wont get enough gearing on really tough hill like mayor/tunku with that gear ratio.

my advise,
change ur 2nd chainring to 39t
or
change ur casette to 11-32
both will do
for e, that setup is enough.

wanna go fast?
how fast?

speed for less than 30kmh (maintain)
learn how to cadence, 52t are enough

speed for less than 40kmh (maintain)
extra cadence or up to 54t

speed for less than 50kmh (maintain)
extra cadence or up to 58t

and the biggest upgrade for ur bike, is the thing that rolling the bike!
*
Flybird 2.0 is 451 wheelset. So, to have good gearing for climbing, change the cassette to 11-32. i think the existing is 11-25.

i dont really want to go fast. just for my understanding and knowledge.

Thanks for your input. biggrin.gif

happy upgrading! 😆
since he got 451 bike using disc brake, why not buy another wheelset size 406? cheaper than buying a new bike laugh.gif
*
Guess what, just bought the flybird yesterday evening. biggrin.gif

condition is very new, all seems to be fine. wheelset is 451, cassette 11-25T, will ride first and see if need to upgrade the cassette and others. Happy for now.

my XDS AFB320 wheelset (stock, with Quandro sealed hub) is 406. cassette is 11T-28T. May can swap some items... hmm.gif

besides more tyre options, why 406 is preferred? better in which area?
