I have this issue, I need anyone help with photo editing skill, I keep trying to upload my image to renew my pass port but it keeps saying my image is too large.

does anyone who successfully uploaded a passport photo to the IMI website can help me resize or do some edits for it to fit?
I tried myself and paid an online site to do it but no avail

the auto-cropper keeps messing the image up

Just don't, even if successful there will be a photo issue.
Just do it offline.

If you really want to do it can just resize with Microsoft photo editor

Forget online application, just go counter and take photo there. Getting the online application to accept the photo submitted is a pain in the back.

One way or the other have to go to counter anyway.

I had the sammmmmmeee farkin issue.
A curse on you whoever designed the system and website.

Anyway, i went to a photoshop that edited my photo for me. In the end they said the problem is my forehead too "short". So they chopchop a bit and then it went through the system fine.

I assume the process is still the same as when i did it a couple of years ago. That photo uploading thing is a waste of time. On the appointment day you will need to take a photo at the counter so all that uploading is for nothing.

Just upload any face pic it doesn't matter. I just took a selfie with my phone and used that. The file size needs to be reduced but i can't recall what size. IIRC it was pretty small (in the range of a few hundred KB if not mistaken). If you dont have a program to reduce the size, try sending it in a whatsapp chat it will compress it.

The good thing with the online application is there's literally no queue for it. You can pick up anytime on the appointment day. Only took me 15-20 mins and i was out of the place.

Another dumb thing that you need to do (assuming still the same process) is PRINT THE RECEIPT. You can't just show them the digital version in your email. They want the physical copy which they will return to you after you collect your passport Yes it's dumb....

Can someone tell me if appointment is necessary before going to the UTCs in KL (I'm planning to go UTC Pudu) ?

I heard you need to use this e-temujanji site first and direct walk-in not allowed.

Don't bother about photo.

can use MS Paint to edit your photo. quite easy actually.

Just curious, did you do it before April 1st 2021?
Because I see one of the Google Reviews for Pejabat Imigresen Kelana Jaya says they need appointment after that date.

Don't do it online, so much hassle than walk in.

facing the same "image to large" issue even trying to upload 100 of different cropped and size pictures (with the sample picture as baseline), anyone could help me out?

i able to successfully get the system to accept my photo after multiple tries of cropping my photo "accurately"

i just applied today and it says the appointment is today?? and today is holiday
then the next statement said i can collect within 90 days, so which is which?
can i go to the branch directly any day within 90 days?

Download irfanview and its plugins.
install everything. Open the image in there. Save for Web as JPEG high quality about 85 90pc or as necessary to fit their filesize requirement.

Use paint.net free software. Use resize and type in smaller coordinates. Easy...

i would recommend you to make an appointment to any UTC branch to renew your passport,

my previous experience is, i've tried to renew passport online, use half day try to figure out what's the actual correct photo size upload to the system, once done,

i go to UTC branch, make an appointment on the spot ( system did not mention need to make appointment, just walk in only ), and the counter review my renew application, and they said have to retake photo, AGAIN.
