Is your KS20 your Master or your Servant?

Once we have mastered the use of the KS20, we can squeeze out all its features for us to enjoy! biggrin.gif
Today, I did a first. During a long car journey I was able to access this thread and send a PM to one of our member. Of course I was not driving!. You do not need any external modem, just 3G.

With KS20 I have been able to retrieve my emails both from my office server and TMnet. I can still do it even when I am oversea. I am still unable to send email from my device via TMnet. If anyone knows how to do it please share with us.

Hi DrWho, I am using DiGi and there's no 3G for DiGi yet, I hope they do. DiGi ppl told me that they'll hv 3G by end of the year. I am hoping for it.

It's wonderful what KS20 can do. Before this, I have no experience with WM PDAs. I only have an old Cassiopiea PDA. After using KS20 for almost 2 months now, it can do wonders. And I am still exploring it. Loving it so far....

Bro, u installed the wrong .cab file man. THere u go, use this one.

Note: This forum disallow upload of .CAB, hence I have renamed the .CAB to .TXT. When you download the document, please rename the extention back to .CAB before you run it. Pls let me know when u've downloaded the file, I will remove the link.

Added on October 15, 2008, 9:33 pmDear DrWho and stutzedward .....

i think i got it after 100s of times in trying to install. i didnt know why or how, i managed to instal it.

as i was installing, it said the software was for Win 5 and 6 for smartphone, and it said it detected different platform. ?????

i did install it and click "yes".

"it" is cleaning some of my files now .... is it correct? it seems to work OK. .... emm, later will try to understand why my KS20 is "a different platform" as detected by the SK Tools.

Again,

is DrWho using opera mini2?
where can i SAFELY download it? or is there better and faster browser?

DrWho: -

i followed your instructions to try to deactivate the dictionary or word completion in the touchpal, but cannot find the option as suggested. maybe i shd re install it again? (this is not such a big problem, but i wish to get a larger keeypad while driving).

many thanks for those replied my troublesome questions and quesitons !!!

My installed version is Opera_Mini_18_06_2008, apparently the latest version. I can't recall where I downloaded it from. Opera is know to be the best for Mobile phone.

mikey, glad to know u've sorted our yr SKTools. After you cleansed everything, then only decide to install any new applications. The message of "this is for smartphone" is fine.

quoted from cybermick

I will update from time to time the pricing of the accesories & parts. I am pretty saddened though LG came out with nice phone but respond to my enquiries do not meet my expectation - slow and troublesome.

Anyway, here are the two items that I managed to KOREK them for price, the number is parts number so you can get it direct from LG or Zitron, or you can PM me if you wanna get it direct from me, price the same from me minus the cents cents lar.

SBPP0023301 - Battery - Price: RM 79.29

SGDY0010904 - Data Cable - Price : RM 19.31

Cheers!

Really? is the battery original from LG? coz I went to digital mall the other day and the store quoted rm350 for ori battery. And rm150 for not ori one.
Do you still hv Lg ks20 battery for sale?

Mikey, DrWho gave Opera Mini. The Opera Mobile v9.5 beta is about 4mb in size for the .CAB. I've been using Mobile but it's very slow.

Added on October 16, 2008, 7:56 pmWho ever is using iFonz, please by all means UPGRADE to 1.1.2. The latest release (since Oct 15). It is faster by 50%, clearer by 50% and best of all, the animations are superbly fast!

DrWho, the Opera Mini runs very very fast! Compare to the Opera Mobile, it's not only smaller in size but the speed is 1/3 of the Opera Mobile. I love it....

So now, my iFonz and Opera Mobile has been turbocharged!

I am happy that both you gentlemen are pleased with Opera Mini. smile.gif For WM applications, program size and speed are very important to me. Opera Mini meets both the criteria, like chilli padi!

Ed, did you get the latest S2U2 program which was released yesterday?

hard reset for second time. urghh. reason: install SRS WOW HD and import WaveDev.reg file. Reboot & hang at LG logo.

Frens, never import WaveDev.reg file into ur KS20 device.

DrWho,

Yes, I got the latest S2U2 v1.30. Got it installed for about 12 hours, -10 hours of sleep and driving to work, the remaining 2 hours, it hanged my KS20 10 times!!! I have had enuff of it, thus I've reverted back to v1.22 which is much more stable but a tad lesser function. This is what I encoutered:

1) When in iFonz menu and phone goes to sleep, when I wake it, the Windows processing cursor swrills but for a few seconds only, then it stopped. All the buttons were useless. I need to remove the battery to reboot my fone.

2) When charging, tho the actual power in terms of % increases, the animated battery still stays as I initially plugged in.

3) Even if I kick off S2U2 manually, when a call comes in, 50% of the time, it will hang my KS20. I need to sleep it and wake it to get everything moving again but when I do so, I cut off the call.

I have tried the setting of Display Mode, all 3 options. Raw Buffer, Direct Draw and GDI. Reckon in the manual says GDI but all 3 are giving me the same result. Hence, I removed it.

By the way, using the new iFonz 1.1.2, not only improves speed, my v1.22 S2U2 runs even more smoothly now. smile.gif In fact, all the other applications lauched by iFonz runs noticibly faster and smoother. Great job done by the programmer.

Added on October 17, 2008, 7:34 amMikey, for your interest:

iFonz is an iPhone Menu application for your Windows Mobile. You can set your preferred icon/application and launch it easily. It works exactly like an iPhone menu system.

S2U2 is a screen saver that when you need to access the phone, you literally "slide to unlock" it.

Attached my old Screen Shot. I guess I need to update it cos when the below is taken, I have yet to install ThumbCal, iContact, S2P and many more biggrin.gif

Mikey, the iPhone Slider does the same as S2U2 but with no customization feature. Example when u charge it, it doesn't show the battery screen. You can change the wallpaper but a lot of manual work needed for iPhone Slider. If u have S2U2 installed with S2V (slide to view), u can change the wallpaper easily with just a push of the button. I used to use iPhone Slider but I replaced that with S2U2. Get version v1.22, it runs well on KS20, at least for mine.
