Is this cheapest fee broker in Malaysia now?
*
Yup in term of those broker that is recognised and registered with SCM..
Other non registered I dunno la but don't advise you to signup with those not registered even when the fee is 0..
Now Moomoo got this 0% commission but for 180 days only la..

ronnie no. commission is commission. platform is platform. for moomoo SG, it's commission free forever. however there's a platform fee
QUOTE(Medufsaid @ Mar 2 2024, 10:52 AM)
it's better to have a moomoo SG account

Actually not entirely true that is cheaper to find ibkr account using wise. I just did a simple conversion using current moomoo rate and realise that I could get USD 21,101.09 (by converting RM 100,000) compared to getting only USD 21,050.49 via wise (by converting using RM 100,000 as well). This translates to getting an extra USD 50.6 in moomoo (USD 21,101.09 - USD 21,050.49).

Having this extra USD 50.6 should be able to more than fully offset the stamp duty charges by Malaysia government if the trade value is RM 100,000 which will incur a stamp duty of RM 100.

  1. i don't use wise to fund IBKR. i'm using moneymatch that offers same rate as Moomoo. i'm using Wise to illustrate how even using an expensive remittance company is still the smarter choice in the long run
  2. $21101.09 translate to RM99565.49. that's RM100/U$21.19 in stamp duty. you buy once, sell once. then buy something else, you just paid U$63.57 in stamp duty
    QUOTE(Medufsaid @ Mar 2 2024, 11:35 AM)
you do 2 round trips (buy-sell-buy-sell) can recover that costs (thanks to Moomoo MY madani 0.1% tax)

with good conscience, i cannot recommend moomoo Malaysia to ppl based on fees alone. unless you really only buy one ETF and hold them for years till you retire. and your investment strategy never ever changes

My bad, yea is cheaper using ibkr if a person has a few trades and my example is only valid if a person only has around 2 transactions or less

It's commission fee free for six months. Not completely free of charge. Still have to pay platform fees and stamp duty.
