I think I will get the new Apple 4K TV once it is available here to replace my old 2nd gen Apple TV. Wanna watch stuff in 4K haha!

32Gb for me since all I watch is Netflix, Apple TV, and YouTube on it.

Cable support range is very important.

HDMI ver 1.4 and below is trash now if you want 4K HDR in full speed especially if you are turning on Dolby Vision.
Previously I often get screen blank or garbage after playback 4K Dolby Vision when using HDMI ver 2.0 cable.

So later I decide change to HDMI ver 2.1 cable which normally label for 8K 60hz but Dolby Vision is required more bandwidth than 4K HDR.
Off course HDMI ver 2.1 had no impact if your TV not support HDMI 2.1

Just grab HDMI ver 2.1 will settle everything and more future proof. But please keep in mind, HDMI ver 2.1 is much fragile and easier break, so take care and pull out gently.

Thanks for the tip! I never did think about that. Considering that I connect my Apple TV 4K to a soundbar first (for the Dolby Atmos support) and then to the TV, I would assume then better to have both those cables at HDMI 2.1 right?

They is no need connect to Soundbar to get Dolby Atmos, as long your soundbar support ARC.

I did not connect to sound bar and Dolby Atmos still detect and active.
*
It does support Arc but I was following's Apple's recommendation hence I connected to the sound bar first.

Does anyone here uses Apple TV with a TV where a sound bar is connected via arc? Is there any audio delay / lip sync issue that you face so far, when audio output on ATV is set to Dolby digital 5.1?

I’m planning to get ATV but am concerned that my Tv (old model) has issue processing the audio and results in a delay in audio.
*
I connected my Apple TV 4K to my Philips soundbar which is then connected to my TV via ARC. No delays or anything at all from what I have been using as the Apple TV is connected to the soundbar directly with a HDMI cable.

Have to change language then change back to English then only got sound...

Any other solutions...?

Never had this particular issue which you mentioned before. Even with all of my Apple TV's (I have 2 at home and 4 at the Office).

Anyone got problems streaming Disney Hotstar on their Apple TV? Every time I try to play some content, it says "Your account <number> does not allow you to watch this content on TV/Laptop" and then the app closes. But no problem on my other devices.
*
No issues at all, I just watched Eternals on my ATV4K yesterday using the Disney Hotstar app on it. Did the billing not go through? I remember I had an error when my credit card expired and I had to key in the new info at the time.

can the apple tv connect to an external hdd?

wireless link?
*
I believe not via wireless link but if the external HDD is on the same network and visible, you should be able to use VLC (Apple TV app) to open files on that.

Local Network Playback is for file sharing on a local network using Windows network shares or UPnP file discovery. VLC accesses media files in connected local directories. If you have an on your network, you'll find these when you tap the Local Network tab. Each one of your local network file shares shows up on the screen. Select them, select the share you want to play, enter any logins that may be required, and browse the files held there to your heart’s content.

When playing media, a swipe down on the Apple TV Remote gives you access to track selection, playback speed, media information, audio controls and the ability to download subtitles for the media, if available.

looking for a low power option
*
Another lower power option instead of running a full blown PC is actually using a NAS and have PLEX or VLC hosted on the NAS. My friend runs his PLEX and media hosting from his Synology NAS

Any recommended TV sound bar that you all have used that works well with the Apple TV? I currently use a Philips Dolby Atmos one and slowly its starting to have some problems turning on and being detected.
