I am not really expecting much from this latest Apple TV. I am using the ATV 4 HD version and just upgrading to 4K. That's the main reason to change but I guess no new great benefits other than 4K and new remote.
Would have been nice if the used a never processor than the A12 Bionic.

So far, i have many other streaming devices but experience is still best with ATV despite being 2-3x more expensive.

I have a problem with ATV. Remote will not turn off TV but will turn on the TV. Volume control works fine. This has been on-going problem for me since ATV 4 HD. I confirm that HDMI-CEC is enabled. TV Brand is Sony.

yeah..the 2021 ATV 4K seems to have significantly improved video quality against ATV HD. Videos look significantly more vibrant.

For those who intend to buy new Apple TV 4K (2021) Make sure your HDMI cable can support 4k HDR. I had problems with display and I suspect that my cables are too old as I was only using 1080 previously. I've just changed to Ugreen HDMI 2.1 cable and under testing now.

Yes but not using VPNs. ATV doesn't support VPN at equipment level.

You can use DNS based geo unblockers which works well on ATV. I feel that it is better solution than VPNs and easy to deploy.

Sometime you can get lifetime subscription for a fixed fee. I have been using one for more than 6 years.

i have been using Getflix and has been working ok for many years. When looking for DNS geo unblockers, make sure

1) They support all the channels that you have to watch. Netflix is the worst as most VPNs and DNS unblockers do not support US Netflix well especially on Apple TV.
2) They support DDNS update as your account it tied to your IP address so you will need to set up your router to update your public DNS address automatically to the geo unblocking service. You also need to make sure your service provider and router supports this feature. Unless you are using static public IP address, your IP will be changing frequently.

you can check stacksocial webpage for lifetime bundle for DNS service. There is one now by keepsolid but i can't tell if that service supports DDNS update.

you need to do three things.

1) You need to manually set the DNS address on Wifi settings on ATV. The DNS should be changed to the one provided by your SMART DNS provider
2) You need to make sure that your internet service provider is providing you with a Public IP address. For maxis users, you can ask this directly from Maxis customer service but you will need to change your PPPoE username on your router
3) You need to register your public IP with the Smart DNS provider. You can do this manually or automatically if your router supports DDNS service.

I have been using Smart DNS on my ATV4 HD, ATV4 4K (latest version), Android Smart TV, Fire Stick 4K all without problems. I use Getflix Smart DNS. I have previously used Unifi but now on Maxis (public IP).

I started using Smart DNS more than 7 years ago. It is much better solution than VPN in my opinion because VPN is inherently slow and all your internet traffic is routed thought the VPN if you configure it on your router.

For Smart DNS, i configure it only on the device itself which needs that service.

After updating my ATV 4K to TV OS15, airplay audio become a problem for me. The audio is ahead of the video by about 1 sec when audio is routed through airplay speaker.

When I tried airplay audio with Ipad (with IOS 15), audio and video were in sync. All the devices are connected to same network.

Anybody experiencing this problem?
