I'm using Coolermaster Mars on my AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ . The problem is the cooler's fan didnt achieve its full performance eventhough I have check the jumper on the cooler and tweaked the bios . Is it anything to do with the PSU or the problem lies in the cooler itself ? The processor keeps overheating no matter what I do eventhough I have changed the setup , applied back the thermal paste ( CM Nano Fusion ) and whatsoever but still the temperature didnt change . Can somebody please help me about this ?

wats ur before temp and after?details plz.yes i know u said the same..but u didnt state the temp.im no psychic.haha...

btw if u can change the TIM@thermal paste to artic mx2 even better.

TIM need time to be cooked before showing its true potential so be patient..look for ur LOAD temp not IDLE wans...

Using the stock heatsink fan included the temperature is around 50 idle and 56 load but when I changed it to Mars the temp is around 56 to 90 idle and the pc when hang . Is it anything to do with the PSU perhaps ?

dont think it has anything to do with the PSU.....

try plugging the fan directly to the PSU. see if that helps

most probably is u didnt mount ur new hsf properly...
Mayb the contact between proc and hsf is bad...
Or did u remove all the old thermal paste/pad/grease b4 u apply the new one?

1.make sure the mounting kit for the CM mars cooler sit properly
into the slot.
2.make sure u have sufficient(not too much or less) of thermal paste apply.
3.make sure the correct temp was captured. Used your finger to feel
the heat from the heatpipe or surface of the cooler. If temp more then 50C u will feel very warm. if u feel nothing then should be your temp reading offset.
4.Your X2 3800+ 65W or 45W version?
5.how about your case ventilation? air flow was sufficient from intake
thru proc. and thru exhaust?

try to check this all 1st.

I have check everything from the mounting kit procedures to the thermal paste application , clean up the old thermal paste compound on the processor and also make sure the cooler copper base make direct contact with the cpu metal cap but still the temperature is still rising . One thing I notice is that I have set the jumper on the cooler at performance mode and the fan should rev up around +-3000rpm but when I look it in the bios it just stay around 1400rpm and less . I tried changed it to Silent mode and PWM mode but still the fan's speed is too low

2Gb Kingston PC5300 DDR II

who's the "sifu" u referring to?

anyway,NF is good if u know how to apply it,i used it before and it performs much much much better than AS5. flex.gif

save the hassle, bought a artic cooling mx2 if u can spend another rm35 for it. Easier applying method and more efficeint then as5 and nf. Make sure u mount the heatsink properly, after u applied the TIM and mount the heatsink, dun pull it out to see whether the base got contact onot.. tis is wrong as it surely will leave air gap on it once u pull out the heatsink. If u did all the way correctly, it should be better then stock heatsink even though the fan speed is too slow.... cause its a heatpipe cooler, sommore copper base and heatpipe, should be better then stock heatsink alot, my opinion is wrong method of TIM application or base of heatsink not really get good contact with CPU.
