It will depend on priorities as well as personal preference or taste. If you ask me, I will always go for Ford Focus. The Fiesta too me looks like more suited to college kids or lower rank executives. That if you based on looks. The Focus looks better on the exterior and interior to me. Larger driving space and for occupants for better comfort.

Also, if 2016-2017 Focus model you would be looking at the 1.5 Ecoboost model. The interior dashboard and steering wheel design are all the latest updated version which look much better and neater than the older Fiesta and Focus. The steering wheel of the Fiesta looks ugly to me. Drive and handling are another matter and although Fiesta may be more fun to drive, it lacks power. On highways the Focus is better in terms of acceleration power and hitting higher top speed, that if you like it fast.

Good luck finding good condition Fiesta or Focus whichever suits your taste since Ford has stopped selling these cars since 1 or 2 years ago.

If you want to buy a ford, but you're worried about transmission problems,

get the Fiesta ST. Many automotive journalists claim that it's the best B-segment Hot Hatch for that generation, miles ahead of the Polo Gti and Clio RS. The 208 gti comes close, but for all out fun, the Fiesta ST takes the crown.

Transmissions is probably the number 1 concern when it comes to a Fiesta and a Focus.

If they fail, repair is possible but costly.

I believe the manual transmission is not so problematic. Fiesta had regular model with manual transmission while Focus, had to get ST variant for manual transmission.

It really depends on what size car you want. Fiesta is B-segment so like Proton Iriz and Focus is C-segment so like Proton Preve
