Hi, sifu

Will moving to a new house soon, just only few concern that I don't know how to decide. Need some house owner to discuss for some concern.

Electrical issue.

1) Currently I stay alone due my mom passed away last year, so TNB was upgrading the new smart electric reader, I just use aircon during sleep, but the electric bill cost RM 140++, every month, My friend was married and he kept running his server 24 hours non stop, and work on home and his bill was RM 180 including his common use. So I was like why my electricity so expensive, but what he explains is because the electric cable still new and thicker, some more he changed amp for the voltage, so it will be more save energy.

Question:
a) is that my old house (which cost RM 140 electric bill ) will be an effect due too long (because currently was stay almost 20++ year, haven't upgrade anything yet. From 1997 till now)
b) Should I do like my friend to upgrade the copper cable on electric there which thicker so that will be last longer and save energy?
c) Due to using aircon every night, So should I get a new aircon or keep using the old one? Because I saw some people told that inverter is not saved much for if you use less than 8 hours. Because I like a fan than AC lah, unless summertime, or else waste money la
d) Currently I'm Using aircon temp is 21, So that will cost more?
e) So when I'm moving new house, Should I upgrade or remain my old one to move to a new home?

Washing machines + drying machines
Currently will move in alone with no one, So I kept reading other review people, Don't know which one I should decide
I saw Toshiba was cheap at Shopee https://shopee.com.my/2021-Year-Toshiba-Was...5669.6160790268

a) but hor, I surveyed some people told me that drying machines cannot all cloths masuk, if not those cloths will GG, he recommend me to buy BEKO https://shopee.com.my/Beko-Heat-Pump-Dryer-...4626.8702998471 which keep your cloth nice, but when saw the price was sakit hati. So he asks me to try to get a heat pump dryer if I can because save more energy.

Kichent burner + hooder
My auntie is a cooker legend, so she asked me to buy a local burner or overseas burner, but I saw no one sell which budgeted, all expensive ones, Almost 3k totally

Mattress
I'm looking king-size one, so I have been trying Natrula and Dunlopillo which memory foam, I seem like very conform la, but hor, expensive Leh, 5k ++, some more alone ma, I also don't know how to decide (because I sleep tilam till last few years only upgrade spring mattress) I don't know which one suit, and I saw joey mattress Macam, yes, but hor, I saw all like good review, if buy and Kena, heartbreak Leh.

I'm not born from rich, but I understand keep healthy are important than others, but budgeted is value for the money la, but I believe who saw this treat which has family or experience, I need your advice to help me who I was as a Mummy boy due born and she left and I need to grow up for taking care myself. I hope all sifu, cikgu, and guru can advise me. Thank you

no big deal. the cables do not degrade until thattttt extent.
The one thing you might want to look at is the main RCD. Last time pre-2000 standard many house installed with 300mA (0.3A) main RCD shakehead.gif which will protect the house from burning down but the human (in fault condition) already dieded 6 times over. Consider changing the main RCD to 30mA (0.03A) at least if you continue to stay at old place. After so many years the RCD also "wear out" and may not be as sensitive or the springs gone softer. A top tier RCD 30mA for single phase cost 80-140 bucks only for the parts.

it only takes 50mA to kill someone.. 300mA really rclxub.gif

b) Should I do like my friend to upgrade the copper cable on electric there which thicker so that will be last longer and save energy?
In your case the issue with high consumption will likely be due to OLDER inefficient devices
like old aircond, non inverter aircon
or old fridge, esp non inverter fridge

In my "weekend apartment"
A 5* super efficient inverter fridge with not much other use besides some cheap E27 lights (CFL, LED) uses ~40 units a month only:
Attached Image

In the past we had a leaky chest freezer (the kedai runcit big box type), insulation failed and dripping water, consuming very high electricity in the over 200 ringgits range.
Replaced that with a new fridge (SBS type, not so efficient by nature) and the bill hovers around 130-150.

c) Due to using aircon every night, So should I get a new aircon or keep using the old one? Because I saw some people told that inverter is not saved much for if you use less than 8 hours. Because I like a fan than AC lah, unless summertime, or else waste money la
Inverter = gearbox for your engine.
Try driving all the way to work on 2nd gear alone, that is non inverter.

It depends on usage pattern, if the aircon is for show and only used 10 days in a year then no need inverter lah.

d) Currently I'm Using aircon temp is 21, So that will cost more?
Climbing up 1 storey vs 30 storeys, even you also tired, same for energy consumption.
Lower delta (diff between before-after temps) = less energy. Running 26C much cheaper than 21C.

e) So when I'm moving new house, Should I upgrade or remain my old one to move to a new home?
New house new appliance lah for peace of mind. Removing the old ones also incur disassembly and assembly fees + no more warranty if the aircon is like a decade old. There will be two sets of fees because you are not donating the old unit to the aircon peeps.
Plus old appliances esp non inverter are power hungry.

The washing machine/dryer combo (2-in-1) is best only for very small places like studio unit 350sf type.
Separate machine one down, not all system offline.
Single machine down, everything cannot use.

You can consider Sharp holeless tub (top loader) for gentler top loader.
Top loader cheap. Only thing to do is just pop open the cover after use to dry off
Front loader cost more. Front loader to jaga nicely not just open hood but also need to wipe the lips (the rubber seal) dry dry otherwise mold grow fast on the rubber seal.

Drying machine heat pump is energy saving but you can calculate the OPEX difference..can recover CAPEX in 10 years mou?

Do more research on available brands, compare features, etc. Shopee can use as price reference but you must know the environment because their search result is all tuned..once you look at brand X it show everything brand X and won't suggest similar item like Amazon will suggest ABC alternative.

This one leh, there is a price for form over function.
If your cooking is at yard converted to wet kitchen any cheapo stove will do. Want super wok hei get the 300 bucks commercial Rinnai stove put on IKEA GERTON table top (below 400 for the table and legs) can already.
When you deep fry stuff the oil goes everywhere and the solid table top self-oiling plus... it is cheap enough to be condemned even with heavy cooking.

Hob and hood if you cook indoors then the matching set is nice when you have kitchen cabinet.

Thank you boss, I saw that you post that reply to every post. but also got few questions.

1) Some people say the washing machine must go separate, don't use combo if any issue will cost a lot for the repair.
2) Drying machine I really don't know which suit for a single person, because my balcony is face north, no Sun there laugh.gif

for the kitchen, I make those old school concrete kitchen (wet kitchen style) because it last longer, wood kena ant, my house recently kena, don't know why.
but for my grandmother told me before, as long can cook, no need nice, because the kitchen is a war place, no people want to see your kitchen nice or not nice one de . laugh.gif

but thank you suggest for Rinnai stove.

Yes as it still boils down to the individual parts that needs replacement, 2-in-1 generally will be a compromise solution if you don't have space. And there are more complicated stuff like interlocks as you can't have the water running when the dryer is running etc.

If you can fit in 2 (stacked also OK) machines it gives the machine designer more freedom to do a specialised job for that machine.. WM just need to do WM things well no need to bother to design for dryer application. Similar for dryer it can focus on doing the drying without additional interlock etc.

Hence the best is 2 separate machines biggrin.gif

For drying machine normal type also will work.. I have a donated vented dryer (not condensate type), it can almost-dry a towel in about 40mins runtime, if 1hr cycle it should be quite dry.
If you can air dry (depending on airflow and space constraint) then you may not need to rush to buy a dryer first. WM is essential. Dryer may or may not be critical.

Kitchen wise some like to have it instaworthy, some just need it functional. The built in hobs also need to see spec coz not all can give a big wok hei due to the burner space limitation (which is limited by cabinet spacing). For table top stove that Rinnai RTL35-KS (stainless steel type) will be pretty much like a bulletproof solution, easy to clean.
