QUOTE(9m2w @ Apr 8 2021, 12:29 PM)
Gagal setelah ditentang hebat apabila cuba dibuat masa PH.

Dafuq? Its been on the cards way before that lar.

Axiata and Telenor are essentially private entities. Up to them to do what they want. Them doing it is a sign of the industry, margins are low, growth prospect is minimal. Only so much you can milk from consumers and they dont have any other ideas. Triple play solutions? Not a game changer especially now with Android Boxes. Business specific solutions? Heck dont think even 5G can help them.

*
Government regulates the industries and what these private entities can do. In a functional economy monopolies, duopolies and oligopolies would be frowned upon. The original merger failed due to regulatory bodies looking into it and not providing approval.

So he sort of has a point, government can intervene (like it always has in our local market). Whether it should or not is another discussion lah though.

QUOTE(9m2w @ Apr 8 2021, 12:29 PM)
If you can blame PH and PN might as well blame BN for the demise via merger etc of  many of the original players, Emartel, Adam, Mobikom, Mutiara etc
*
I don't remember much from back then since I was quite young, but didn't Mahathir through the government force all these small players to merge? He did the same with our banks. Because he loves his neoliberalism and forced mergers like this (under the guise of "consolidation") was his second favourite thing to do after privatisation, which he learned from his hero Thatcher.

Wasnt. It was as much market forces than anything. Too many players who burnt through their cash for essentially not a big market. He only intervened for certain cases especially with TIME and Singtel (He didnt want TIME and its assets falling under Singapore haha).
