Australia has 25mbitup/5mbitdown ADSL2+ for A$69.90. The exchange rate can be done almost one-to-one. Wish we had those speeds. Of course, they have a data cap of 40GB a month. Anything is better than paying Rm469 a month which is ridiculous for a home-user.

more details here.
http://www.btimes.com.my/Current_News/BT/F...ot.xml/Article/ to summ it up, currently it only covers two areas - Damansara Perdana and Nusajaya (in Johor). It will expand to other areas in Klang Valley, Penang and Johor within six months. They are talking about expanding the submarine lines which is good as it can reduce the bottleneck in connecting to the website outside Malaysia (which is the main reason for the slow internet in Malaysia). Hopefully TIME becomes a real alternative for Streamyx for us home users. |

The upload speed are still pathethic. When you are offering 10mbps speed, your upload should be altleast 5mbps to balance the offering. Nonetheless, it is still a good deal.
Hope the service comes to Penang as soon as possible. I had enough of 1.5mbps speed already! |

Hard to say since TMnet has more coverage than TIME so their 4Mbps won't reduce price unless TIME expand the coverage to the whole Klang Valley. |

i asked the person whether the connections are throttled..
the answer is YES. Well.. the key question is whether TIME can afford bunch of submarines cables overseas. Having 1k subscribers by end of the year can't even pay for an additional E1 line to US... We have to wait and see.. mebbe for the first few months OK, but after that... ishk.. |

One bad thing about TIME is that their coverage is so limited that it makes no difference for us home users even if we are interested in it.

Agree with you.
But again, penangfon and metrofon already startup a year for the testing. And jaring boardband also is more than 1 year, again, they haven't setup the network for other places. While oversea is every places have different isp can be chosen. Is it an good idea to move to other country? ^^" |

Believe it or not, screamyx will never lower the price and "free" upgrade for the user.
They now are even downgrading, last time 1mbps package with 512kbps upload. Now they drop till 384kbps for uploading................ 1 port share with many user, is this make sense? 1 port is assign for one user, but they make it other way................ I'm staying in Perdana Condo but I'm happily downloading away on my 2mbps Streamyx.
I went to their launch last year and they had a test PC - they preloaded a streaming quicktime movie and played it, trying to make like it was downloading then and there. Then I went and surfed around on it and it really, really sucked. Felt like 56kbps. None of the people there were worth talking to, so I passed it up. To be fair, they were only getting pre-bookings then - the service might not have been functional yet. |

As bad as you guys think Streamyx is, it's still the one-eyed king in the land of the blind lor. I've tried a lot of other ISPs because my area doesn't have streamyx. Nasioncom, Time, Jaring, Izzi, Maxis wireless. All are horrible, HORRIBLE. The wireless ones can be good at certain times but so bad for others that you can't even open google. If we had streamyx, I'd run down to my management office and subscribe right now.
So, anyone tried Netlynx anyway? |

Then I went and surfed around on it and it really, really sucked. Felt like 56kbps. Right now I'm at Cyberview Lodge which is using Time for its broadband access. It's awful! Makes me want to get straight back to KL and use my Streamyx again, so at least I can get some work done. Been waiting 20 minutes already for 4 megabytes of email to download. I thought Cyberjaya was supposed to be some sort of high-tech wonderland. I figured the flagship resort here would have some sort of amazing super-speedy internet connection. Sheesh. A few years ago, Time was pretty good. But if my experience today is any indicator, they suck now. Massive packet loss, twice the latency of Streamyx (and no, the problem is not with the hotel's wifi network, I get perfect conditions as far as the router). |

QUOTE(dragna @ Aug 30 2007, 09:43 PM) now thats what i call good news! Hope they do not have streamyx performance... Or else 10Gbps link also useless... " Baharum said Time would also made available Netlynx of between 30 MBps and 100 MBps for commercial applications by mid-September in Petaling Jaya, Selangor." |

Nobody can get 56ms ping to USA from Malaysia; it violates the laws of physics. |
