 Probiotics for weak tummy (stress related)

I have a pretty weak stomach. In 2013 I had 2 polyps removed and thru medication things have stabilized.

Over the past year, with COVID-19 and dealing with family, work issues - my stomach has been an absolute mess. I can feel the bloatedness, and when I'm stressed the feeling in my gut gets even worse... The fact that I tend to miss meals due to work doesn't help either.

I need to get my stress levels down but I don't think that's going to happen anytime soon, so the only option would be to strengthen my gut. There are plenty of probiotics out there, but is there anything specific for stress related discomfort? Does it even work that way?

I consume the Natural Health Farm (NHF) probiotics. So far so good. Almost every day can go Poo-Poo.

Pooping is not an issue for me.. 3-4 times daily sometimes laugh.gif

If u have insurance u should have gone back to hospital for further treated can claim within 60 days.

Anyway what does Dr say? just eat probiotics may not help your situation if ur body keep making too much gastric juice.

After polyp removal and medication I was fine for years.
This is just occuring again, but strongly believe it is stress related. If no stress, I'm usually feeling quite comfortable.

Sorry to hear this TS, unker also had gastric relapsed during covid time. But unker learned that not to depend on medication for stress related issue unless it is cronic. Unker last time take muscle relaxant drugs for this but doctor does not advise me to take too much, neither does the doctor gave me much.

Unker share abit on what works for unker last time, unker pickup another hobby that engage unker mind and body. Jogging and training for marathon, this is trained unker to focus on unkers thought and not to get distracted. Add oil ya TS! You can do it, find something new to invest your time on and good luck on battling stress.

Oic missed out 2013 lol...

Yes stress can cause ur body to make more gastric juice u will get heartburn at the least..
Better go see specialist lah.. just FYI might be gallbladder stones.


For Probiotics u can try Life Space Probiotics. Shopee/Lazada selling around RM70-RM80 a bottle.

Thanks unker.. not looking for medication or short term relief. My insides are messed up already lol
I just need to control stress, manage it well.. and hopefully some probiotics to ease the transition over. Work and some external factors have really been messed up for me lately.

Simplest way to confirm u can claim insurance is ask Dr to do Endoscopy..
Some Dr may just give u some medicine and ask u go home. This way cant claim unless your company insurance allow outpatient specialist claim.

Yeah not looking for medication. Same things over and over and I don't actually think medication helps much right now. Did endoscope and colonoscopy back in 2013, 2 polyps removed and doc said my stomach looked pretty inflamed.. mostly due to self medication (before this my stomach was fine, but I kinda OD-ed on antibiotics when I was uni student around 2011, wanted to get well fast before exams... Yeah stupid me, not thinking about the long term effects)

I guess until I can get insurance checked out and a scope done, like to give probiotics a try first.

Life is way more enjoyable when you changes your view on certain things, let go of the stubborn view that causing you unnecessary stress, focus on making yourself happy first before others and 1more very important lesson is that never carry past negative emotion with you but instead accept what had happened and use that energy to walk the future.

yea stress is a killer. i also cannot go under stress. i just try to sleep early as i can since sleep is free medicine.

when i was wfh, i noticed my stomach always bloated and so i eat probiotics and it helps to chase away that bloated feeling. i am eating atomy probiotics one packet per day, one box rm 123 for 60 sachets. so after eating for one year, i feel much better. my mum has severe gastritis also, she shares the probiotics with me. she felt the probiotic helps to calm her gut area, but she has to eat like 2 packets per day.

so u might want to try out and see if it works for u or not.

Low stomach acid can cause bloating and acid reflux too, in order to digesting food and breakdown proteins we need a strong gastric acid, the gastric acid pH is around 1 to 1.5 which is very very acidic. our food is not always free from bad thing like bacteria, thus strong gastric acid will killed off unfriendly bacteria. the remedy to low gastric acid is take 2 TB of apple cider vinegar with a glass of water after meal, it works for me, you can try for yourself.

Kimchi and sauerkraut are the king and queen for the probiotics rich food, its all natural and very tasty, you can try to make your own Kimchi and sauerkraut, the receipts is all over in the net.

And yes stress will cause low stomach acid!

thanks! i will try the apple cider vinegar since i have a bottle in the kitchen. i do eat kimchi but not a lot because of the spiciness. thanks again!

TS, is your stomach feel like tension? Feeling is like when you shout or sing?

I have that for quite sometimes. Suspect stress related also.

Stomach bloating, then did endoscope, colonoscopy, ultrasound for gallbladder, blood & urine test.

I losing weight since that. Been 2 years almost 10kg gone.

Don't know what else to check? sad.gif

Have to let go and take it easy!

Thought I'd update a bit... I decided to try the cheapest (I think?) probiotics out there - 21st Century probiotics.
I've been taking this for about a week now, so far I feel a bit better... my stomach isn't that "hot" in the morning anymore, i don't feel the urge to puke as much.

Probably also because my stress levels have come down a bit, i don't really know. For now i plan to continue with these probiotics for about 2-3 months at least.
