LCA is another set of program that is going to replace the Hawk and MB339 as it is seen as more dire then the MIG replacement.

although I am a fan of the T7 Redhawk solely because of the partnership program with SAAB

I was thinking rather then just direct import maybe it's time ASEAN & FPDA to pull a EU style joint weapon development acquisition like eurofigter, FREMM & so on.

It help reduce friction & improve interoperability & so on.
First win, Makassar & cn235 has some success but the public seen it more like a import rather than a joint development that doesn't really help reduce friction within nation & create the feeling of togetherness while gov seem to buy it as a token with limited number rather in huge quantities.

On the FPDA front. It does seem RN MRSS, RSN JMMV, RMN MRSS & RAN Canberra replacement are all set in the same time period, so does RN type 32,RMN Kedah replacement & RSN MRCV, it seem Australia would also acquiring Medium range air defense & mines countermeasures vessel at the same time as us. Maybe they all work together & get a common vessel or they don't. But if they do, hope we can do it with ASEAN as well.
