Well, it looks like China now knows what the Indo are doing. China is happily harvesting data unbeknownst to Indo.

Some persons imagination^. One word : insufficient and un-netted sensors. And back-blast. Does not make technical sense. Completely understandable if it is something smaller like brimstones.

As with all things Indo, wait for it to happen.

The tank boat can easily be taken out with crafts with a <30mm rapid firimg cannon or atgms. Many people r wondering what is even the purpose of having a 105mm gun. Do you know the rate of fire of a gun that size...google it. Does indo has littoral insurgencies to take care off?

German government reveals 5th Type 218SG submarine bought by Singapore (mentioned in passing whilst the issue is on controversial sales to Egypt)

Germany: Merkel government greenlit controversial arms deal with Egypt

Former Chancellor Angela Merkel's government approved controversial weapons exports to Egypt before leaving office. Critics of the move are hoping the new government under Olaf Scholz will adopt a stricter arms policy.

The former German government under now ex-Chancellor Angela Merkel greenlit several controversial arms deals with Egypt before leaving office, German news magazine Der Spiegel reported this week.

Then-Economy Minister Peter Altmaier sent a letter about the deals on December 7 to Bundestag President Bärbel Bas, one day before the swearing-in of Chancellor Olaf Scholz.

What do we know about the deals?

The weapons agreements disclosed in the letter include the delivery of three MEKO A-200 EN frigates to Egypt from Kiel-based Thyssenkrupp Marine Systems, along with 16 air defense systems from Diehl Defense, which is located in the southwestern German state of Baden-Württemberg.

A sale of a type 218 G submarine to Singapore from Thyssenkrupp was also divulged in the letter.

The three agreements were approved by the Federal Security Council, which includes not only the chancellor but also several ministers, such as the minister of finance. The Finance Minister under the previous Merkel-led government was Scholz, meaning Germany's new chancellor was aware of the agreements.

Arms deals stir outrage
The disclosure of the weapons deals has sparked anger from some German political leaders due to Egypt's poor human rights record and its involvement in Yemen's civil war.

Agnieszka Brugger, a leading member of the Green Party in the German Bundestag, slammed the arms deal by the previous government "in their last hours."

She said it was a politically calculated move, as the Green Party, which is represented in the new governing coalition with Scholz's center-left SPD and the business-focused FDP, would likely not have approved such a decision.

These types of deals have also been sharply criticized by leaders of Germany's Christian community, an important voting bloc for the Christian Democratic Union (CDU), which after 16 years with Merkel at the helm of the country now leads the political opposition.

Martin Dutzmann, the Protestant chairman of the Joint Conference Church and Development (GKKE) said he has little understanding for such deals and called current arms controls "inadequate." He said arms licensing has not been restricted legally or politically.

The German government issued €5.82 billion ($6.59 billion) in individual export licenses for weapons in 2020. Half of this figure consisted of weapons permits to so-called "third countries" outside of NATO and the European Union.

Germany increasingly sending arms to non-EU countries
Simone Wisotzki, an international security expert and project leader at the Peace Research Institute Frankfurt, told DW it is "no longer justifiable to speak of exceptional cases" in regards to exports to "third countries." She said sales to these nations have instead "become the rule."

Karl Jüsten, the Catholic chairman of the GKKE, said Europe as a whole is exporting more arms to outside countries, most notably the UAE and Saudi Arabia.

"Anyone who wants to take the Common European Foreign and Security Policy seriously must also pursue a coherent restrictive arms policy, for instance legally-binding EU regulation on arms control," Jüsten told DW.

The new German government between the SPD, Greens and FDP has agreed to implement a "restrictive weapons export policy," particularly in regards to countries that are involved in Yemen's war. Jüsten has welcomed the announcement, but it's unclear if the new governing coalition will keep to its promise.

Mai's note: Not too surprising as Sg has indicated previously that it will be increasing its undersea warfare capabilities - google it. Meanwhile, the RSN surface forces and RSAF will have domain control to protect the submarines.

How much does one Type 218SG submarine cost? An estimated >USD$800 million per submarine - indicative of the technology built into these submarines. A Scorpene submarine costs an estimated USD$400-500 million per submarine in comparison.

https://www.asiapacificdefensejournal.com/2...-submarine.html

Singapore now has 5 Type 218SG Invincible class + 2 Archer class AIP-equipped submarines. 2 more older Challenger class submarine will be retired as more Type 218SGs become operational. It is anticipated that SG will eventually operate at least 6 Type 218SG submarines.

The submarines are expected to carry torpedoes and Blue Spear anti-ship/land attack cruise missiles.

A400M Offset and Indonesian Aircraft Sales

Alman Helvas Ali, CNBC Indonesia
27 December 2021 06:00

The Ministry of Defense and Airbus Defense and Space (ADS) have signed a contract for the acquisition of two A400Ms and an option for four aircraft on October 10, 2021 in Jakarta and continued similar ceremonial activities at the Dubai Airshow 2021 on November 18, 2021. The contract for two A400Ms takes advantage of the Foreign Loan slot (PLN). ) worth US$ 700 million in the Determination of Financing Sources (PSP) of US$ 5.8 billion signed by the Minister of Finance on 26 April 2021. Indonesia is willing to set aside €484 million for ADS to procure two transport aircraft with airframe materials using aluminum alloy, titanium alloy and carbon fiber.

Also included in the contract are offset packages addressed to PT GMF AeroAsia Tbk and PT Dirgantara Indonesia. Compared to the contract for the acquisition of 36 Rafales from Dassault Aviation France and 6 FREMM frigates from Fincanteri Italy, the offset target of the A400M is better because all of the offset receiving firms are bona fide, reliable companies with a clear track record in the aerospace and defense business. Then how about the offset details obtained by Indonesia from ADS so that this country will be listed as the 10th operator of the A400M in the world?

Pan-European aircraft manufacturers agreed to provide direct offsets to PT GMF AeroAsia Tbk related to the A400M's maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) capabilities, including technical publication documents and ground support equipment. This is in line with the interests of a subsidiary of PT Garuda Indonesia Tbk (Persero) to expand its business line to the defense sector through GMF Defense, which is currently implementing a center wing box (CWB) replacement program for a number of Indonesian Air Force C-130 aircraft. The MRO capability provided by ADS to PT GMF AeroAsia Tbk is limited to the airframe and does not include engines and avionics.

Indonesian Air Force Confirms Lockheed Martin C-130J-30 Super Hercules Order

Indonesia Air Force to Take Delivery of C-130J-30 Super Hercules at the End of Next Year

It has been disclosed by Indonesia Air Force Chief Air Marshal Fadjar Prasetyo that the first C-130J will arrive home in Indonesia at the end of 2022. Indonesia’s purchase of the C-130J was revealed when Prasetyo visited the production line in September and took a photo with the section of the first aircraft being assembled for the country. The Indonesian Air Force also will relocate four air squadrons from Halim Perdanakusuma Airport, East Jakarta, that is scheduled to undergo a major renovation during which flight activities will be suspended. The CN-295 Air Squadron 2, C-130 Hercules Air Squadron 31, and Technical Air Squadron 021 will be relocated to Husein Sastranegara Airport, and the squadron officers stationed at the airport will be rotated every two weeks.

The Indonesian Air Force still operates a C-130B and KC-130B fleet that was procured second-hand in the early sixties. The C-130B’s were reinforced with second-hand L-100s and C-130Hs in the eighties. The Indonesian Air Force Hercules aircraft are operated by Air Squadron 17 and Air Squadron 31, both part of Air Wing 1, at Jakarta/Halim Perdana Kusuma, Air Squadron 33 (Wing Udara 5) at Ujung Pandang/Hasanuddin and Air Squadron 32 (Air Wing 2) at Malang/Abdul Rahman Saleh. The whole, some twenty Lockheed C-130 Hercules transport aircraft, is aging and must be replace soon. Externally similar to the classic Hercules in general appearance, the J-model features considerably updated technology.

The Indonesian Air Force has confirmed plans to buy additional Lockheed Martin C-130J-30 Super Hercules tactical transport aircraft. During his visit to Lockheed Martin’s C-130J production site in Marietta, US state of Georgia, the Indonesian Air Force Chief of Staff Air Marshal Fadjar Prasetyo was photographed next to a C-130J-30 (construction number 382-5951) cockpit section bearing the Indonesian flag an indication that production of at least one aircraft is ongoing.
