Hey guys, as the above title, I want to compare a RM 150 monthly premium insurance cover.

I have a plan with HLA where my parents signed up for me previously when I was a teen....I'm wondering whether is it worth continuing this insurance, details as below :

1)HLA – Complete Link (Level Cover) – TPD & OAD, RM 100k - 79 years

2)CI Care Rider (Level Sum Assured) -36 Critical illness ,RM 50,k – 59 years * except Angioplasty and other Invasive Treatments for Coronary Artery Diseases.
*Benefit payment under this illness is limited to 10% of the critical illness coverage under this policy subject to a maximum of RM25k. This benefit is payable once only and shall be deducted from the coverage of this rider, thereby reducing the amount of lump sum payment upon critical illness. (Means I only can claim RM 5k? if I got this illness)

3)HLA Medishield II rider – Annual Limit: RM 120k (Pre-retire /Post retire Deductible : 0) -79 years :
Hospital Room & Board – RM 200 daily
Daily Cash as a result of hospitalization due to road accidents on a Malaysian Highway – RM 200
Daily Cash Allowance at Gov Hospital : RM100
ICU, Lodger ,Surgical Fees, Anesthetist and Operating Theatre Fees, Organ Transplant, Day Surgery, Ambulance Fees, In-Hospital Physician Visit, In- Hospital Physio, Pre/Post Hospital,TCM and Chiro, Outpatient Treatment ( Emergency Accidental Outpatient/Dental/Physio/Cancer/Kidney) – As charged, subject to Reasonable & Customary Charges
Intraocular Lens (multifocal lens inclusive) : Up to RM3k per surgery eye and RM6k per lifetime
Home Nursing Care: RM 60
Initial Overall Annual (Per Rider Year) Limit : RM 120k
Emergency Evacuation & Repatriation (Limit per event) – RM 250k

4) Million Extra II – Annual Limit: RM1mil
Million Extra II provides additional RM 1mil annual limit for HLA Medishield II Rider. No Claim Incentive and Emergency Evacuation & Repatriation benefits are not applicable for Million Extra II
Million Extra II does not have Non-Deductible Benefits. All benefits are subject to deductible per Rider Year of RM120k (Equivalent to the Initial Overall Annual Limit of HLA MEdishield II Rider) < What does this means? Does it mean if I go into an accident that requires claim above RM120k , then I will need to pay out the RM120k first which will come from my point 3 benefits?

5) Million Extra Booster – Annual Limit: RM1mil
Million Extra Booster provides additional RM 1mil annual limit for HLA Medishield II Rider. No Claim Incentive and Emergency Evacuation & Repatriation benefits are not applicable for Million Extra II
Million Extra Booster does not have Non-Deductible Benefits. All benefits are subject to deductible per Rider Year of RM 1.12mil (Equivalent to the Initial Overall Annual Limit of HLA Medshield II Rider & Million Extra II) - same question as above

6) Outpatient Treatment Dengue Fever & Zika Virus – Reimburse up to RM 2k

7) Personal Accident Rider – RM 100k - Coverage Period 54 years

HLA Value Fund – Allocation: 50%, Fund Management Fees: 1.45% of NAV
HLA Venture Blue Chip Fund – Allocation: 50%, Fees: 1.45% of NAV

based on their sales illustration, i will need to top up the policy premium when I hit around 43years old. currently mid 20s, non-smoker.

Appreciate all of you guys advises! I'm so new to this and I want to know whether this is worth to continue!

Ok guys, tmr night, I will post the details of my noob insurance. And from what I know from my head , yes it is an investment linked plan with HLA blue chip and HLA value fund 50/50.

Then what I remember the total sum assured is only 100K

IT has a medical card tho, but I forgot the details it covers..and it has the million care rider thing which says it covers 1mil or wtv...but when I read through yesterday it has a deductible of 1mil itself (wtf means I need to pay the 1mil first?). It's very complicated to me..

I do also have a company insurance, which my company provided and they wrote it much simpler, Sum assured 30k for kidney dialysis aand cancer . + Surgery covered full and has medical card as well (inpatient and outpatient etc.)

I'm thinking of cancelling this HLA insurance plan..I do wonder whether there is a better plan that covers more with the same premium?

I'm mid 20's , non smoker

Hi HumbleBF. Very detailed update. For mid 20’s, the plan looks good to me. For medical card, the annual limit is high enough (2.12M).
Hi thanks...glad to hear that the cover is legit.

For life insurance and CI insurance benefit, it all depends on how much you need then.
1. Life Insurance to cover any liabilities you have which is not covered? Eg: mortgage, hire purchase, cc debt.
2. Critical Illness to provide you funds during your recuperation period if diagnosed critical illnesses. How long do you want this amount of fund to take of you?

1. My debts right now is only PTPTN, although I can foresee incoming debts such as car and house in the next 10 years. But this is not my concern right now.
2. Hmm..do you meaan funds to cover my premium during recuperation period? Never thought of this ..

Looks pretty okay in terms of coverage, for someone age 25.
