What's up fam, I hope we are all staying safe out there in these times... So this is my in-depth review and demo of the in-ear UGREEN HiTune T1 True Wireless Stereo or TWS earbuds. It has the model name WS111 and is the immediate successor to the UGREEN HiTune TWS earphones with model number WS100 which I reviewed earlier... I promise you it's worth a look-see. Hopefully, by the end, you'll not only have a pretty legit idea of what it feels like to own a pair (my primary goal) but once decided? Also how to get it for significantly cheaper today than the RRP... brows.gif icon_idea.gif

UGREEN offers these in 2 colors... The black I review here and also white for those who prefer such. Here are some key specs to take note of. The HiTune T1 is equipped with the Airoha AB1536 single-chip solution, which supports HD Audio and Airoha's new TWS MCSync technology. This chip is capable of next-gen echo cancellation and noise reduction tech that not only provides superior audio and crystal-clear calls, but also a seamless Bluetooth 5.0 connection with imperceptive latency. On the media playback end, it introduces Multiband Programmable EQ and Dynamic Range Control. This coupled with the 6mm graphene dynamic drivers, allows us to listen to rich and quite detailed music in the Balanced Mode. Yes, the HiTune T1 has been upgraded with 2 EQ modes. The Balanced Mode I just spoke of, useful when listening to say classical or pop music... and the Bass Up or Super Bass Mode, which pumps up the bass levels even higher but softens the vocals. I would recommend this mode when listening to say Rock or Heavy bass music. Although the audiophile in me prefers the Normal mode, the Super Bass Mode gets really deep and low. There is a noticeable difference between both modes & I also like that there's a seamless transition between the modes without interrupting playback...That would have been a tad irritating. Thankfully, UGREEN made switching between both modes quite easy. Just press and hold on the right earbud for 2 seconds at any time to switch between the modes. You get a tone and a voice prompt indicating which mode you've switched to. Excellent!!

In addition to the pogo charging contacts, side indicator lettering, and the control touchpad on the front... There are 2 Microphones on each earbud. One at the top and another at the bottom. Both serving complimentary yet distinct purposes. The one on the bottom is the Voice Pickup Microphone and its job is to pick up and enhance your talking voice. The one at the top is the Noise Canceling Microphone, and its job is to listen or detect background or environmental noise. All four MEMS Mics working in tandem, providing superior audio and crystal-clear calls. I was able to carry on conversations in noisy environments and the person on the other line had no issues hearing me.

The Multifunction button or MFB is touch-sensitive, and as with all new models, it takes some getting used to. Unfortunately, I found these were a lot harder to master than the previous HiTune model. Many a time, I found myself pausing the music when in fact I wanted to increase the volume or skip a track... I mean, eventually, I still got it to do what I wanted. But I suffered a few wrong taps. Your mileage may vary though. I'll chalk it up to having large thumbs and the significantly smaller size of the touch-sensitive area on the T1s in comparison to the previous HiTune model.

Let's talk about latency. Naturally, this is the second most important criterion for most TWS owners. I'm talking about the presence or lack of any audio video lag or sync issues during video playback and of course gaming.... Remember that the HiTune T1 does not have Qualcomm's aptX or aptX HD or aptX LL..... Best to watch the video to see it in action... But before you do, I would like to apologize for the occasional harsh microphone feedback during these tests, and I will try to improve on it in subsequent videos. The primary test devices are the Bluetooth 5.0 equipped Lenovo K5 Pro and the Bluetooth version 4.0 equipped iPad Air 2 running iOS version 14.4.1. Given these are low specced non-flagship devices and that the HiTune T1 doesn't have any fancy Qualcomm low latency hardware. IMHO playing off-camera with these is really good. Media playback from both local and online streaming apps such as Netflix & YouTube is perfect. The same can almost be said for mobile gaming too. Thus, I am able to enjoy hours of local or online multiplayer games using the UGREEN HiTune T1...

Top Three Cons
1. The teeny tiny lag I noticed during the Crash Bandicoot gameplay...Hard to describe with text, so it's best to watch the video above to see exactly what I'm talking about and fully understand. On the other hand, It could be the game itself, as it only recently came out of their Beta programme. Stuff are still being updated almost every week.
2. Then there's that messy affair of a touchpad. It's tiny???? I do prefer the larger surface area & near accurate sensitivity of the original HiTune earbuds.
3. TBH, not much to hate really.. So this is me nitpicking here... I'm torn between the absence of charging or battery LED indicators on the exterior and the slight not-so-perfect fit and finish of the case. Hmmm, I think I’ll go with functionality and declare the last con is about the lack of a charging led indicator on the front as I'm used to. This is a personal preference and thus I'm sure many people would prefer there not be any blinking or solid lights glowing in the dark while the case charges. Perhaps UGREEN could have replicated the design on their 18W 20,000mAH PD & QC 3.0 Power bank. Where the lit LED indicators are only visible from a certain angle. That way, folks like me would be taken care of as well..

Supported Voice Assistants: Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, Apple Siri, Microsoft Cortana, & Samsung's Bixby.

Top Three Pros
1. Audio playback quality is pretty satisfactory, and that's saying something from having used the then fantastic HiTune earbuds also from UGREEN.
2. The earbuds' design and fit. While I'm not a fan of stem-type designs...I just don't like how it sticks out publicly. However, I must confess that I find this design to be a good compromise. The shape also allows for decent passive noise cancellation. Couple that with ENC or Environmental Noise Cancellation and reduction technology, the HiTune T1 with its quad microphones effectively suppresses the bulk of environmental noise during usage.
3. Effortless and crystal-clear phone or PC calling. Again, this is where the Airoha AB1536 chip solution I mentioned earlier shines. Airoha's new TWS MCSync technology processes the signals from all four MEMS microphones and applies echo cancellation and noise reduction tech to provide superior audio and crystal-clear calls.

Verdict
In conclusion, there are tons of Bluetooth or true wireless stereo earphones in the market. One thing I now know for sure is that we don't need to spend so much just to enjoy decent sounds and advanced features. As of the time of posting this review, the UGREEN HiTune T1 is being sold for RM109 before additional discount at Ugreen's official store on Lazada Malaysia. thumbup.gif
