Hmm, xpresside. just make sure when u connected to the phone when u wanna download the maps to the phone, u are connecting as mass storage instead of PC Suite. I dont have your problem when I did mine. I am running on Vista but not using ATI, but Nvidia. I am not sure if that is the problem for you, but well u can just try the method provided I guess.

On the registration, mine doesnt work when I click MALAYSIA, one of the obvious reason is that my phone is not from Malaysia. But then when I click Singapore, it directs me to the page where I registered my phone at nseries.com/users. So I think, obviously the page for singapore is updated unlike the page for Malaysia users, so sian right? So, I suggest you guys if want to register your phone, just use the one for nseries.com/users instead, it's the same and they accept your IMEI number. If they don't, then u can start worry lor.

I just activated my navigation license. It said 3 days trial but when I choose the south east asia region, I also get the 3 months free license, only for this region. I didnt purchase anything tho. Oh by the way, the license if for the voice navigation.

I tested a simulation of the voice and it seemed like it works the best for places that is updated in the maps u downloaded from nokia. I tried to have a route to my hometown, so sian they cant find my hometown liow, hahahaha. So that is the problem with GPS lor, it is not really widely use in Malaysia and the maps only for big cities that is at least quite updated.

Added on November 12, 2007, 8:05 pmNo need network as long as you already have the maps downloaded in your phone. If it's not in the map, then u will need connection to use GPS. Mine is set to never use connection and I can use my GPS. When u start nokia maps application, it will say, network is disable. Just ignore it, it will not be a problem if u have the maps in your phone

By the way kamen rider, i dont think it's worth to pay for navigation in malaysia. There are free cracked navigation software online.

Faster faster go get this phone. If want to buy AP, buy now, it's too new for ppl to clone or to recond and sell as new. If you know ppl in Singapore who wants to recontract but dont want the phone better, a friend of mine recontracting and she has to pay only SGD300 only for Nokia N95 8GB!!! Ceh, so jealous.

I followed the steps in the guide card...but after i press purchase and select the south east asian...it just show me the list of period (not free)...nothing stating the free months license...anyone?



After I press purchase for the SEA, it said checking for available free license. Then I received an update saying that I have 3 days trial, and 3 mths voice navigation license. That's all. If you purchase and it said nothing, that cud probably means someone has used it and it already expired. Or cud be that the phone doesnt include the 3 mths. I don't really know actually because when I tried with mine (follow instructions on hardwarezone sg)... I can get the 3 mths free license.

dgtel2: The built-in Nokia IM will be the "MSN Msgr" if you know which server to connect to.

So far, for my E61, I only managed to connect to packetbox using the built-in IM. Here's another packetbox successful user for N95 'classic'. But be aware that packetbox has lots of spamming! So I immediately delete the server in my built-in IM. Apparently, packetbox website is down (forever...?)

You may try Yamigo. But my built-in IM for E61 cannot connect to Yamigo server but my Moto V3xx managed to get Yahoo and MSN contacts. It's all free (if you have unlimited 3G/EDGE access).

From what I can see today, the best application for mobile IM is Shape Services IM+ and/or Agile Mobile. But these aplications are not free to install.

For free mobile IM, I encourage you guys to use fring.com or Gizmo for S60 which is free as well, as long as you have unlimited 3G/EDGE access. There are many others VoIP and mobile IM nowadays. They are all good if you have unlimited 3G/EDGE access.

Plus, if you 'dare', try DiGi IM or Maxis M-Messenger

I havent tried the MSN because I dont know the server and I dont think it's free application. On the download function when u access the menu, there shud be MSN Live application to download but funnily I dont have it even after I update the catalog.

Anyway, I've installed Fring, the application is free but make sure you do it over wifi OR install the sis file on your PC and transfer via PC suite, if not, it will cost you few $$ to download the application. They dont have for 8GB version yet but I just used for the N95. It works perfect tho... I can see my conatcts for Fring, Skype, MSN & Gtalk. U need to be careful on the settings when U installed. Make sure you dont auto connect, connect only when asked and u need to choose the access point. If not it will connect via ur 3G/Edge/GPRS connection. Unless you have unlimited data package, u better dont use it. Each letter = 1 byte = 1 sen.

Yeah, it's a bug. Old N95 doesnt have that prob. Apparently I cant delete that MIO generation (singtel branding) screensaver because it comes together with the themes. Sigh, the themes cannot be deleted, singtel hardcoded it, just like the chinese dictionary, haha. I hope it will be erased with the new firmware updates and the bug is corrected too.

Ah yeah, I missed to answer that. Nope, u can't use the N95 8GB = N95-2 in US. This is European version and their 3G protocol is different. You can use it to make call tho, in the US, they are also selling N95-2 currently, so if u really wanna buy it and doesnt care about the 3G incapabilities in the US, then might as well you buy it there, provided that you are going to NY or Chicago, since if I am not mistaken, it's only available in Nokia Flagship Store at these 2 cities.

About iPhone and N95 8GB comparison, it's lame to cmpare these two. It's like apple and orange. Please... only a FANBOY would love iPhone so much with their limited capabilities, lol. Sorry fanboys out there, it's the truth altho I must say I very much like the LOOK of iPhone but not the lousy specs

Oh well, one need both phones to really review it But I am never fond of WM OS, as a stand alone PDA, yes! But put it together with a phone function, nah. Too slow for my liking, it's worse than symbian. But then again, the ppl in Bill's building shud be able to correct that I assume, ppl do said some slight improvement on the WM6.

But on the plus point, the only thing I like about MW is the seamless syncronisation and files management with notebooks (that runs Windows of course). This cant really be said for symbian based phones tho... well, not that bad so far I havent come across huge annoyance... YET. Hahaha!

Nope, not yet. Yeah Nokia Maps sucks, I could find my hometown but that's it... only big streets with names and nothing else. But it got my home in KL correctly tho, haha. Well, I don't think it's more about the application I think it's GPS as a whole, it's not well used in Malaysia and thus the lack of need to really have a complete map. I know for a fact that maps are updates with demands. I've a friend in Europe, he said the maps are pretty good and uptodate there... and don't forget that european countries sort of seize any road constructions, where else us, in Malaysia esp, the road changes every other day... and alternative routes come out like mushroom after the rain, hahaha.

Well, I will post it here if I try other GPS application later.

AGREED. altho I do think it has improved from the old N95. It drains battery when u play with it, if you just leave it alone, just make calls and text, I think it can last to 2-3 days. Well I will test this but have to wait for a while, I am still in obssess mode with the phone, hahaha! Have been watching movies and reading books with it for 2 weeks now and I charge it daily, haha!

Hmm, it's not the lens, it's the plastic cover, the lens is inside. Ah well, mine is also scratched because of the excessive and obsessive polishing I did. HAHAHAHAHA! I can see small scratch line already. As much as I hate it, because it's not really obvious unless u really looking at it... it still take good pics. The fokus range of the camera overlook the scratches.

It doesnt affect the pic quality so I thot it's Ok. I just have to control my irritatingness then.

I keep on wiping my phone, the suckie thing about black glossy phone is sthe smears!! grrrrrr

I suggest u dont do anything about it holycross UNLESS it is really bad. Then, just go to Nokia store and order the new casing lor.

This is also my first time buy an AP set, the logic behind it was this phone is really new and I got it within a week of it's launch in Singapore. So mine is actually from Singtel hehe... thank God no Singtel branding and no locking, just that annoying MIO Generation themes (singtel branding) and the chinese dictionary that I can't delete. If only I could read Chinese (or speak for that matter).

But I'd suggest to buy AP set latest by end this mth, if you really wanna be sure it is a new set lah. They are moving fast at cloning new phones also you'll never know if it is really new after it has been launched for a while

Nokia has their own software for themes creation, Carbide, which is fun to play with but the application is too heavy, even my 2GB RAM can't really handle it smoothly, also because I am using Vista which eats my resource like starving person.
