can someone tell me what does it mean by "ffdshow tweaking" ?

I downloaded Saving Private Ryan 720p HD(7.6GB, .mkv format) and played on my Sony LCD 32inch by connecting to my laptop graphic card's TV-Out.. the sound is all good but the picture quality is not sharp, kinda like too soft and blur but not pixelated thou.

Is it something to do with the ffdshow tweaking ? How to do that tweaking ? Perhaps someone could enlighten me on this..
