i'm using this mobo. yeah, it's a mobo with limited overclockability. my X2 3800+ only can be pushed to 2.45Ghz max (Vcore=1.38V, Vdim=1.95v, HT multiplier=3, CPU multiplier=10). this was limited by the lower Vdimm...
for my current oc, i decrease it to 2.4Ghz only (Vcore=1.38V, Vdim=default, HT multiplier=4, CPU multiplier=10) which give me much more stable system.

some said, this mobo can be hardmoded (solder or pencil mod, something like that) to get higher Vdimm, but dunno how to do it...

so the best bet is vmod them like that link..
the bios updates can give some credit on oc better..
i've tried all the bios available last time.. got improvement..

still ok la.. by that time.. no other AM2 mobo around.. only crappy MSI.. and those super expensive board..

Already a lot of people shout out d tongue.gif
Should be last year i think. Those users claimed that ASUS site is cheating them as the site stated that vdimm supported is 2.4v if not mistaken.
But in reality, the vdimm supported only 1.95v.
Some people even said that this thing can be fixed by BIOS. But until now, u know la laugh.gif

alot had been covered in AM2 OC V1 thread.. thus dedicated topic no longer necessary...

this is among the first AM2 mobo in our market.. that time not many shifted to AM2.. and becoz of it's limitation in oc no further discussion can be done...
currently alot of AM2 mobo flooded in our market and good in oc too...

I've bought this board, but I'm in exam week till this Friday so I don't have time to use it. I'll give my opinion this Friday when I try it.

For anyone who wants to know what BIOS is good for this mobo, look around at Anandtech forums, there's a long thread about this mobo, what BIOS is stable, and what kind of problem with it

I've used the board for 3 hours now, nothing bad so far. It can overclock the same as Biostar TForce 550, to 2.4GHz 1.4V. Even I reinstalling Windows using overclocked state to test it's stability.

It's pretty stable to me, I've played F.E.A.R, with both the CPU and GPU fully overclocked, no crashing. I won't update the BIOS, since it run pretty stable to me, no reboot overclock failure, nothing that I heard happening to my mobo. I'm pretty happy right now

after all it is still depends on the ram itself..no point getting the motherboard that comes with 3vdimm if we only using the normal value ram, which we cant expect much in its overclockability smile.gif

I'm not aiming high RAM speeds with AM2, especially with integrated memory controller. As long as it fast enough for me to play some games it would be good enough. I don't want to break any records here, I'm done becoming hardcore overclocker smile.gif

Good for you then smile.gif Anyway does CPU-Z reads your chipset as nForce 570 SLI? I've done some research and this mobo DOES use the SLI instead of Ultra. And what BIOS revision do you use? Mine is 1001

I use Value RAM, why not? It's the chipset it uses that matters, even some value one have the same overclockability as the high performance one. You just need to know which one

Ah the good old M2N-E, used to have one. It is stable, cool, and works well as a medium O/C board. I sold it cos of the RAM voltage limited at 1.95V, and I was on Mushkins. Other than that I think you'd enjoy o/c it with valueram, its not extreme but it does well with the heatpipes...

dude, do u mean if it still using on the same board..
the different between 3800+ and 4000+ is the multiplier..

better u change the mobo instead of changing the heart..
even 3800+ can be pushed more if u had better mobo and oc ram..

edited..
forgot to mentions..but if u got a good batch of proc, M2N-E can do more oso..

however, still using it untill now.lazy to change other mobo..laugh.gif
anyway, i do some tweaking and testing, my 3800+ F2 can oced to 2800mhz
with limited Vdimm, i manage to get rams which not a Vdimm hunger...
still a good ocing result for F2 + M2N-E IMHO...nod.gif

Congrats... thumbup.gif can get higher than that??
coz i doubt this mobo manage to get higher result stable with F3 proc ((3.2-3.7ghz), thats y i pass on getting the F3 last time...and no money too at that time... doh.gif

edit:
@onslought
u may change the cpu divider by lowering ur rams to 533, then try to push ur cpu freq more...i think ur brisbane can get 3.0ghz.
coz from ur CPU-Z, seems u got quite good rams. 833.9mhz at 1.95v Vdimm is good u know...

putting the rams to the nearest slot will make the rams voltage controller much more easier to pump up power to the ram itself.try one by one, then put the weeker rams nearest to the proc...it will help the weaker rams to catch up with the other one...

Holla guys. There's a pre-set OCing /Noob OCing feature in M2N-E. N currently i set it to 10% OC,so my 4000+ is running @ 2.3

My question is,how much can i push my 4000+ without changing my HSF? Wut is the max tempt. limit can my 4000+ stand?

u may try to set the option to manual and try to push untill 2.5-2.7Ghz. IMHO, suppose no need to pump up too high Vcore for brisbane, hence no need the 3rd party cooler.
its actually depends on how much ur Vcore actually. higher Vcore will tends to increase ur procs temp. however, brisbane operates in much more cooler compared to windsor.
so, no need to worry much if ur vcore not too high...

Yes...as bro rainingzero said, overclock manually is the best.
I dun think you want to run certain overclock speed w some extra Vcore added while any lower Vcore than that is enough to stabilize for that particular speed. wink.gif

starting point? ohmy.gif nod.gif hard to get 'final' point with m2n-e.. shakehead.gif icon_question.gif I try drop ram divider to 10 but system fail to boot. Actually I'm use pair of kingston value ram, but different chips. One of them use hynix and others one not sure what chip (only can see some code at the chip but not brand). Hynix chip only can pass 2.65Ghz and others one can reach 3Gz ( that why u can see in cpuz above I'm only use single ram). And now not sure my oc result is limit by ram or mobo.. icon_question.gif Maybe both of them

Vcore for this board can up to 1.5+V or 1.55V like that.. I dont remember this. I think Vcore is not the problem for this mobo but Vdimm give some problem. Max Vdimm only can set to 1.95V in bios. But now we can see high performance ram go to 2.0-2.2V. Better to look for good ram if want to get highest oc result with this mobo

1. Make sure your air circulation is good.
2. Change cooling if necessary

Just stick to your current ram and lower the divider will do. smile.gif

Go search Xigmatek in Garage Sales. There are two models for Xigmatek.

if u wanna ocing, maybe u can try those cheapo biostar mobo.
if wanna sleek looking mob, u can try M2N-E, M2N32SLI deluxe or crosshair. those mobo also got good ocing capability.but not for M2N-E lor. its only got 1.95V dimm and 1.60V Vcore...

with M2N-E, my 3800+ F2 only can hit 2.8ghz stable. 2.9ghz can boot but not test stablity yet...

IMO,u can fit many hsf in this mobo. already used a few cooler b4, no prob. tower cooler no prob at all.
currently using freezer 64 pro. b4 this i use TR xp90. no prob... smile.gif
u can fit noctua or TR 120 extreme. but its already overbudget.... sweat.gif

but if u use cooler such as XP90, the heatpipe chipset will be extra cold since the air forced downwards to the heatpipe....

I believe this is the limit of my M2N-E icon_rolleyes.gif

x2 F3 3800@3.43GHz Vcore 1.5V, Micron D9DMH DDR2@1140MHz Vdimm mod to 2.50V.
The DDR2 timings should be able to tighten slightly better tongue.gif

x2 F3 3800@3.43GHz Vcore 1.5V, Micron D9DMH DDR2@1140MHz Vdimm mod to 2.50V.
The DDR2 timings should be able to tighten slightly better  tongue.gif

nice oc result.. How do you mod Vdimm to 2.50V? Max Vdimm in bios only 1.95V

try goggle for the link in 1st or 2nd page in this thread....got link there.
but keep in mind that if do the mod wrongly it may burn your mobo or DDR2 module (maybe both)! sweat.gif

Yes, the same mod.
Just make sure your MUST adjust the preset to higher ohm side before fire up...
If you start your system with the preset at minimum resistant (about 0 ohm) you gonna fry yr ddr2 as the Vdimm >3V sweat.gif

btw, I believe you may adjust the Vdimm without DDR2 module installed. Safety 1st icon_rolleyes.gif

p/s:

bro,

sorry coz didn't exchange the mobo with you...
I seriously wanna exchange with you but you took too long time to trade and hardly online sad.gif

btw, no need to sell it off lah...it is a good mobo, just need Vdimm mod icon_rolleyes.gif

I can do 3.40GHz stable after Vdimm mod to 2.55V, but you still need a good DDR2 in order to do >1000MHz DDR2 speed. Mine stable at 1100MHz DDR2.
for OC>3.2GHz for sure you need a good proc like AM2 X2 3800 F3.

Recommended speed for 7/24 not >3.2G and temp keep below 50C idle or 60C max load.

Refer screenie for my 7/24 rig with CnQ enable tongue.gif

refer to the pic, actually that one is GROUNG point.
Just solder the wire to the round solder point surrounding the screw hole will do.

You may use ohm meter to check the continuity for the "hole" and fan header (black color pin when plug in fan connector).

what range adjustable resistor u use? 0 - 20Kohm? And how to set Vdimm til get =<2.6V? Set in bios or use third party software, or get reading by using ohmmeter

I am using 20k but I believe 10k will do better (easier to control).

Well, just remove the DDR2 and measure the Vdimm while turning the preset toward the lower resistance range till the Vdimm you want.
I set the BIOS Vdimm to 1.80 first (before remove your DDR lah) so max Vdimm is the measured voltage +0.15V (1.95V setting in BIOS).

aiyo...bro, after solder just a few steps more lah...still need tutorial huh? sweat.gif

refer to pics, make sure you solder the right points.

1. Before solder set your Vdimm in BIOS to 1.80V.
2. Remove all the DDR2 modules for safety purpose (make sure you get the right Vdimm then only you install the DDR2 modules)
3. After solder, measure the Vdimm measure point for actual Vdimm reading.
4. Turn the preset toward the lower resistance range till the Vdimm you want. (glue the preset with double-sided tape to avoid it from moving)

simple as that.... tongue.gif

hahha... okay here is the steps,

1. download the proper bios ( check your mobo version 1st and check you current bios version)

2. i used to flash the bios from windows, i think using ez-flash utility like in the link.
http://images.google.com.my/imglanding?q=a...7L3a8_M&start=7

3. backup your old bios

4. point the update bios to your new bios file

5 update and restart.

its so simple.

3. but i never encounter the message like yours. rclxub.gif doh.gif

That means it remove some of the motherboard feature in the BIOS because the BIOS ROM is too small, why does ASUS done that? To make some room to put new CPU microcode to support AM3 CPU of course
