I went to a camera shop having in mind getting
Ixus 950 or Sony T-100
but end up, buying F40fd

anyone, got this camera?
Can share your thoughts about it?
Is it the right choice?
coz at the price of 900+, couldn't really resist it.
Only thing, a bit bulky compared to t-100 and ixus950

or maybe u wan share some pic?

No don't worry. I have the same predicament with you. End up buying f40fd.

Never regret it. Having great shots with that cam. Check my flickr sig.

f40fd is way underrated because people keep comparing it to f31fd indoor performance only. f40fd is a different species of animal. IMHO f40fd is better shooting outdoors than f31fd could. If you read some reviews f31fd have some purple fringes problem when shooting outdoors. I can't confirm it though.

But don't worry, the important part is the photographer behind the camera. For me it's good enough for newbie like me as its slimmer design made it easier to carry around my pocket not to mention its IQ. Indoors even better than other cam in its class apart from f31fd of course.

Even though it doesn't have Av Tv mode you could go around this by using the modes they provided. For instance macro for larger aperture and landscape for smaller aperture etc.

Welcome to the club.

I am a proud owner of the F40fd too, can somebody tell me how to use the IR function? It doesn't seem to work with my 6230i... : C

Of course it has. Reading the manual let you understand more about the camera.

Anyhow to go to the night mode, turn the dial to either sp1 or sp2 (it doesn't matter which one of the 2).

Then push the menu button. A scene position menu will appear. Press --> arrow and then choose up or down for night mode.

The last mode you set will be saved on the either sp1 or sp2 dial (whichever you choose).

The night mode is set at ISO200 and slower auto shutter. The fireworks mode is a bit cooler as you can manually set the shutter speed but from 4" to 2 only.
