Went to my friend's house last weekend to discuss some issue then noticed one of his kid , around 5 yrs old watching some gore anime (as per video below, not exactly that blood c anime but similar type with alot of head-chopping intestine-spilling scene).

Then told my friend that anime's pretty gore and violent...not sure if kids should watch.

The boy overheard this and then say, 'but i didnt learn'...

Then the dad smile...

I wonder if its OK as i dont have experience with kids watching such anime/show...

anyone can shed some info, or share any link if there will be adverse impact growing up?

Actually currently I'm quite worried for my kid to watch any cartoon or play any game in tab because during the half way of watching cartoon or going to next level of a game, the will always an ads pop out from no where.

Heck, those ads shows some stupid sexy girl bouncing their asses and boobs. Of course for adult was nothing but for those kids, I was thinking are they exposed to these kind of thing too early?

i have no idea actually.

even on the violence question i am asking, i tried googling..some says no conclusive connection between children acting aggressive with watching violent anime.

Anyhow, kids is still under parents responsibility.

they are...until they are not.

my worries are more on how will tat impact them growing up

or whether if that will impact them at all

a point one of the article i read said, japan was popular with violent anime..yet their crime rates are low.

so maybe tat's a comforting point?

I believe is because Japan has a very good education system and on how strict their rules is.

kids grow up fast. its really hard to limit what they can and cannot watch.

the most important thing is to educate.

i also lean towards strict upbringing. beat means love.

that's like saying so long we educate them..then pornhub is also ok? hmm.gif hmm.gif

honestly speaking, i do agree that kids needs SOME restriction when younger, but they'll eventually learn about all these things.

give them internet and they'll find EVERYTHING. people having sex, people getting raped, people getting beheaded.

if i were the parents i would restrict all access but when theyre like 7-9 years old talk to them about it? i remember being a kid that age and my friends were already having access to "dirty magazines/video tapes".

would you rather your kid finding out about all this from friends rather than from parents?

we have to adapt, its getting easier and easier to access all this.

is porn wrong? my opinion is anything taken to an extreme is wrong. demonizing  sex is actually harmful. i had a friend who was raped by her bf, but back then she didnt know enough about rape and love. she was so afraid to talk to anyone. i wonder why?

well i am sure eventually they will need to be taught on what's private parts etc...and the same goes to violence in this world.

my question's rather, is 5 or 6 yrs old a suitable age ; especially on violence since that's the purpose i start this thread.

and porn, i would say i disagree even below 12....i can teach them about private parts, bad touch/good touch..but to allow them to watch people having sex....that's a whole new different level to me.

but then again, since i am looking for answer on correct/incorrect parenting when it comes to violence, i wouldnt say yours is wrong..but will be helpful if there's a link/source where studies done so i can glimpse some knowledge from there.

sorry i cant help then my opinions are subjective. imho everything is subjective based on case by case basis. different parents also have different parenting styles.
