I have been looking into solar for my house and got quoted under this new scheme. The 10 year limit on NEM seems to be a deal breaker. By the time the solar system investment is recovered by savings, the NEM period is almost over and you're stuck on using what you produce. If you're using a lot of power during the day time, that might be fine, but many would be using more at night with aircon and more people being at home then. Otherwise if you have a really high electric bill, the reduction of cost in the higher tariff rates while under NEM will decrease the investment payback period, so sure there might be a few years where you're ahead.
You mean battery is not included in the quotation? This will be of limited use as most household electricity is used at night. Have you tried to calculate the breakeven period with battery?
