I do agree the buy low and sell high concept applies to unit trust too.
Now I'm waiting for PM to officially lower their service charge. Other unit trust are already in the 5% range. All the PM Consultants/Agents here made me happy knowing there is a lower service charge coming soon... Would now consider on-hold my purchases while wait n see the market condition.
Seems like a "red" CNY... Market don't look so optimistic as before already.

kingkong81, thanks for the info. After the recent distribution, PSF and PFSF price seems attractive to get some (I don't have any local funds yet, all are recent Far-East ones), but I only have enough funds for one, which have better upside potential? Or maybe PGF?

Well, maybe if we all put some pressure and start to freeze our investment in Public Mutual (stop buying additional units), then the management will consider lowering the service charge for online purchases. When they realize they're losing market share in UT, they'll definately make it more competitive.
Sadly, the agent network of PM is putting a lot of pressure to resist the lowering of service charge (their commission). I guess at some point, PM will have to make some hard choice on this.

QUOTE(mtsen @ Jul 27 2009, 03:19 PM) its almost IMPOSSIBLE for PBMutual to lower its price, the only way it can happen is when the agency effect is lower. but up till today, PBMutual is the biggest because of its agency force, there is NO WAY they can simply ignore the agency's interest ... For PBMutual to lower fee is like for Malaysia to have a totally independent police and MACC Well, PM did go under pressure to reduce the fee from 6.5% to 5.5%. When the pressure increases, it's a matter of time before PM will lower it again... maybe not as low as the others, but at least not as high as it currently does (almost double). It's like how AirAsia eventually made MAS to go online ticketing with lower fares as oppose to via their travel agency network. Well, MAS fares are still not as low as AirAsia (because MAS still deserve a little more premium for the additional services rendered on flight) but they're now playing the way AirAsia does. So maybe another 1-1.5% lower will do wonders for PM to maintain their #1 in Malaysia
