Public Mutual declares income distributions for seven of its funds



Public Bank’s wholly-owned subsidiary, Public Mutual has announced distributions for six of its funds. The total gross distributions declared for the financial year ended 31 July 2009 are as follows:

Public Growth Fund | 4.00 sen per unit
Public Islamic Opportunities Fund | 2.00 sen per unit
Public Islamic Select Enterprises Fund | 1.25 sen per unit
Public Bond Fund | 5.00 sen per unit
Public Islamic Select Bond Fund | 3.50 sen per unit
Public Islamic Income Fund | 2.50 sen per unit

According to The Edge-Lipper Fund Table dated 20 July 2009, Public Growth Fund and Public Islamic Opportunities Fund have generated a three-year return of 40.11% and 45.01% respectively for the period ended 10 July 2009. As for the bond funds, Public Bond Fund has generated a three-year return of 15.56% while Public Islamic Select Bond Fund which was launched in 2007 has generated a one-year return of 6.59%. These funds have outperformed their benchmarks for the respective periods.

Meanwhile, Public Islamic Select Enterprises Fund and Public Islamic Income Fund which were launched last year have generated a six-month return of 16.08% and 4.45% respectively for the period ended 10 July 2009. Both funds are open for EPF Members Investment Scheme.

Public Mutual is Malaysia’s largest private unit trust company with 70 funds under management. It has over 2,000,000 accountholders serviced by over 40,000 unit trust consultants. As at 30 June 2009, the total net asset value of the funds managed by the company was RM30.6 billion.

Yes, it has been in increasing trend for weeks but generally still lower compared to its previous high.

I thought PB series fund can only be bought through Public Bank bankers.

PM agent can only sell Public series fund.

Dividend is subject to tax but capital appreciation (NAV movemen) is not.

I also prefer more if the fund don't declare any distribution.

Public Bank’s wholly-owned subsidiary, Public Mutual declares distributions for two of its funds. The total gross distributions declared for the financial year ended 31 August 2009 are as follows:

Public SmallCap Fund which was launched in 2000, is an award winning fund, having received a total of 12 awards in its category from The Edge-Lipper Malaysia Fund Awards and The Star/Standard & Poor’s Investment Fund Awards Malaysia. Public SmallCap Fund was ranked No.1 for its five-year returns in its category with a return of 90.3% for the period ended 7 August 2009, according to The Edge-Lipper Fund Table dated 17 August 2009. This fund has outperformed the benchmark, which registered a return of 49.5% for the same period. Public SmallCap Fund is distributed by Public Mutual unit trust consultants.

Meanwhile, PB Islamic Equity Fund which was launched in 2005 has generated a three-year return of 29.9% for the same period. The fund is distributed by Public Bank branches nationwide.
