Coming soon this fall 2007  QUOTE Shion no Ō (しおんの王? lit. The King of Shion), with the subtitle The Flowers of Hard Blood, is the title of a Japanese mystery manga series written by Katori Masaru and illustrated by Jiro Ando. It started serialization on March 25, 2004 in the Japanese seinen manga magazine Afternoon published by Kodansha. Shion no Ō centers around a young junior-high school girl named Shion Yasuoka who witnesses the murder of her parents as a child. At the time of the murder, her father leaves behind a game piece from shogi, a Japanese strategy board game similar to chess. This leads her to believe that the murderer is a shogi player. Although Shion refuses to speak after the murder and communicates only through writing messages, she eventually decides to take up shogi herself to gain clues about the murder of her parents. |

If they can do Go which is equally boring, i'm sure they can do Chess too. Maybe they reimagine Deep Blue as a sentou robotto loli retired into a chess player and Kasparov is some young punk. Haha. Ah well all these animes are based on favourite japanese past times. They have a Yugi-Oh anime. Heck they even have an anime based on a Pachinko Machine. swts. |

watched ep 1... dl-ing ep 2... interesting enough for me... but i donno how to play shogi ... they say shogi is the toughest chess game, since the play style is different where u can reuse captured "units", if Deep Blue can win world chess champion... who can beat Deep Blue in shogi?? |

super computer with brute force calculation could easily do strategy even the strategy could be unlimited
as for normal computer.. well for current technology i think they still able to write algorithm to perform task like this... but how strong "they" are will depends...
