10.5 (Leopard) is available although buggy.
Btw, how do I update my 10.4.7 to 10.4.8? I heard that there is something called "ppf" patch to update.

Hmm.. That's fast. Does 10.4.9 have patches for SSE2 capable processors? Any idea how it differ from 10.4.8?

Does it mean that some applications will not launch or unexpectedly close? I can remember I installed 10.4.1 without SSE2 patch and it's a horrible mess.

Is there anyway to install without a DVD drive? My combo drive can't read DVD 99% of the time.

Noise eliminated by using BIOS's fan control. GPU fan eliminated by using Nvidia enabler instead of EFI string. Installation fully successful on the following rig: Intel Core i7 920 DFI LANParty DK X58-T3eH6 Palit GeForce 9800GT 512MB GDDR3 (55nm revision) Realtek ALC889 Marvell Yukon Gigabit Ethernet This post has been edited by mengsuan: Jul 15 2009, 01:37 AM |

The keyboard on your dell inspiron may be connected by PS/2 connection and you will need PS/2 drivers installed. Either that or plug in a USB keyboard.

QUOTE(turbovtec @ Jul 15 2009, 07:44 PM) http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=1573You may use any other PS/2 drivers you find, they should work. There's typically voodooPS2 and applePS2. The voodooPS2 version may be incompatible with certain ACPI (causing kernel panic) but may increase compatibility with keyboard/mouse compared to old school applePS2. QUOTE(D.Sync @ Jul 15 2009, 09:18 PM) Somehow to my astonishment I managed to boot up my Hackintosh on Acer Aspire 5920G. The only problem is no audio out and Wi-Fi connection. If I remembered correctly I used iDeneb. Which audio and wifi chipset is used?Any 5920G's user here? Added on July 15, 2009, 10:34 pmJust to share an unexpected experience. I have a 7 port USB hub; an inexpensive RM27 china-made hubs with colorful lights. Due to kernel panics and numerous failures during the installation, I removed all peripherals (hubs, card readers and even system fans). After many attempts, I have got a working configuration for every devices. Then I installed my Canon LiDE scanner, connecting it to the USB hub. Alas, random kernel panic when booting. I searched up and down for the 'buggy' kext or plist. After about 20 minutes of fiddling, I suspected my USB hub; removed it and voila! Mac OS X boots up like butter. Short version: USB hubs can cause kernel panics during installation and even post installation. Removing unnecessary peripherals may be a good idea if you fail to install or boot due to kernel panic. Lol.. This post has been edited by mengsuan: Jul 15 2009, 10:34 PM |

I am not sure about ATi cards. In fact, I didn't expect enablers to control the Nvidia fan speed either.
Sleeping in OSX86 still remain as a dark zone. Most of our systems can sleep but cannot wake up from a sleep. There are some suggestion to this issue: 1. Change your system sleep method in BIOS, some says S3 (suspend to RAM) helps. 2. Patch/change kernel (unsure), read http://netkas.org/?p=70 Just my 2 cents. I haven't tried working on sleep for my x58 either. |

QUOTE(prasys @ Jul 16 2009, 10:24 AM) Those who are on Intel wifi card , get yourself a Broadcom card - a seller sells it here or get it through ebay I already have a keyboard that looks like apple's. White, slim and distinct key. Volume up, down, mute, eject button all works, except Num Lock. LOL..for Audio - google for VoodooHDA As for sleep , you may need your DSDT to be patched or use a patched kernel mengsuan , finally I've poisoned you ! - Next up you're going to get apple keyboard and mouse Added on July 16, 2009, 10:43 am QUOTE(gengstapo @ Jul 16 2009, 10:41 AM) It happened to be like that. QUOTE(prasys @ Jul 16 2009, 02:32 PM) The fix is working as expected. ThanksQUOTE(jaya_pc87 @ Jul 16 2009, 03:56 PM) thx for that temp monitor linkn The temperature monitor surprisingly works for OSX86 and detects 8 cores temperature (I don't recall 8 temperatures being shown in Windows). It has also nice system information that would function almost like CPU-Z or CPU-X.already did the patching too at the moment only ati issue i am worried is with ati graphic card fan speed |

Geekbench score database shows mostly 9K for most Mac Pro (Early 2008). Some reach 10K or 12K. One special score shows 17K.

Anything that would interact with the hardware may not work if it is not designed for osx86. For example, SMCfancontrol and boot camp.

You need only 7GB to fully install Leopard.
