Hey guys, you all tried the new boot-132 loader, tried making a new topic but they are being anal retentive about a new forum post.

Have vista on the hard drive, but its MBR partitioned, heard you can't convert to GUID partition without destroying or reformatting the whole HD with a vanilla (retail) install cd.

Releases such as kalyway allows you to install on an MBR partition. What route did you guys take?

yeah the problem arises when I want to create a GUID partition without deleting any of my existing data (vista) partition. I guess i'll have to go with Kalyway, any difference with using a retail disk?

QUOTE(CPURanger @ Jul 21 2008, 10:52 PM)
I am using GUID partition with retail (updated to 10.5.4) on a 200GB HD and MBR with Kalyway on my 40GB HD.

Okay, Kalyway successfully installed on my computer. Sound and everything seems to be working, only theres no graphic driver compatibility for my ATI 4850 card. Oh well, not too sure if I'll keep this around unless they develop a driver, in the mean time I'll continue hacking it.

What are your success stories?

-- so far on my Gigabyte GA-31M mother board -- everything works except

1. wifi -- even after installing the driver (I have an aztech usb, it has mac drivers on the cd) it says it doesn't work on an intel mac (!!)
2. resolution at 1024x768
3. doesn't restart on command

Heres a pretty good guide on installing snow leopard:

http://lifehacker.com/5360150/install-snow...acking-required

I previously did this on my PC with leopard, but since there was no support for ATI 4850, I decided to dump it.

Still debating if I should go ahead with it again; no support for my soundblaster x-fi card is holding me back.

Any solutions out there?

Added on September 17, 2009, 7:49 pmOh..and i forgot to mention -- besides no sound...no wifi, the biggie.

Hey guys, I've decided to jump back into making a Hackintosh; did it back in the day when kalway and all these other 'distros' were being released. Its good to hear that we don't need these anymore and we can install straight from the Snow Leopard DVD.

I'm having a bit of a problem here, I hope the more experience ones reading this thread would be so kind to help me out.

I have one hard drive, 2 partitions -- one for Windows 7, the other will be for Mac OSX. The problem is, the hard drive is MBR, and not the GUID partition type. I don't want to reformat and lose all my data.

I'm currently using the myhack installer (http://osx86.sojugarden.com/installer/) to install MacOSX from a USB drive to the free partition. Problem is, when I try and bootup after install, the mac os drive isn't recognized. I'm not too sure if this is just myHack/Chameleon problem because MacOSX is installed on an MBR partitioned hard drive.

Does anyone know a work around so I can boot into Mac OSX?

Thanks!

Added on April 30, 2010, 7:36 pmgot it fixed!

I manage to boot in by using safe mode (-x), chameleon boot manager used by following this guide: http://osx86.sojugarden.com/category/working-with-os-x/

So MacOSX + Win 7 now installed and dual booting! just a few more fixes, and then thing will be all good!

i'll post some pics up soon.

Helo Prasys, i have just bought Gigabyte G31M-S2L and built a new computer intended for hackintosh, because i saw
on osx86 project that it is one of the best motherboard for hackintosh. It says we can use iatkos v7 (10.5.7) to install,
i have tried several times and always stuck at the booting up screen. Could you tell me if there is any guide to install
hackintosh on this motherboard? what program did u use? thank you, really appreciate it.
*
I have the GB G31M-S2L, works perfectly.

Follow this guide: http://osx86.net/f57/guide-retail-snow-leo...for-g31m-t3672/

Pay attention to the DSDT part or you're going to have BIOS reset problems.

If you have problems booting up to the install screen like I did (I have an ATI 4850, problem card) then use -x when you bootup for the default resolution.

I replaced the EFI with the netkas EFI booter, www.netkas.org because it supports my video card and seems to be pretty popular these days.

Added on May 17, 2010, 3:36 pmOh, and prasys, I read your blog, didn't know you were a local over here! Thanks for the upgrade walkthrough to 10.6.3, BIG help.

Have you tried Steam portal? Runs crap on my system, I don't know if I'm having kext problems.

20 FPS on my 4GB 3 GHZ core 2 duo, ATI 4850.

I had it running at 60 FPS before, then it dropped again, I have no idea.

I was using Paragon NTFS which slowed my computer down. I uninstalled it and my FPS went up, but now its back down at 20. Weird huh?

Should i use MBR or GUID? I own an AMD system to work with, and plan to dual boot with Win 7

I used MBR because I already had Windows 7 installed and didn't want to reformat.

Forgive my ignorance. What I meant earlier was, during my initial read up on how to hackintosh, it came into my knowledge that there are some distro of modified MacOS X like iPC, IDeneb etc which has been modified with things like modified kexts and such so that theyre able to load on different configuration of machines (Intel, AMd). If by installing with the original SL dvd then how should i know wat to replace the original file/settings with? Sorry i am a beginner.
*
its better to do a 'clean' install instead of using distro. That way, you're installing from the SL DVD, and all the files are in place.

Hey guys, do you know if the Apple wireless keyboard (bluetooth) works within bios itself?

I have a targues bluetooth receiver -- and need to be able to access bios / boot loader to switch between OS.

OSX can only be installed on a GUID partitioned hard drive. By default your hard drive should be MBR(Master Boot Record) so no go.
The is a way around this limitation but I don't quite remember... something like a hacked OSInstall.mpkg I think.
*
Wrong. You can install on a MBR, I did it, with a pre existing Win7 partition.

Read this: http://osx86.sojugarden.com/category/working-with-os-x/

To make Mac OS play nice with Win7 you will need to boot to Win 7, run the utils to fix Windows,

boot into Windows again, then using DISKPART, make Mac OS X your default OS to boot. It won't work if attempt to fix it via Mac OS X (as described in the URL i gave above), you have to fix it in Win7 or it will complain.

Hi There,

icon_question.gif i am currently searching for a dual boot solution for my laptop
i notice that u have installed both OS on 1 Harddisk (with 2 partition)
is ur windows 7 is preinstalled?? on which drive; is it on C:?

because if i want to install the mac os onto my laptop i dun want it to
to interfere with my preinstalled windows 7...
i want to put the mac os on D:

TIA
*
Yeah, Windows 7 is installed on C:\ -- just clear some space like I mentioend above, install Mac OSX, and use the dispart utility under the Win7 command prompt to select the MacOSX partition as the default boot. From there when chameleon boots up you can choose between Windows or Snow Leopard.

thanx...

can you elaborate more on how to do it.. the right way?  icon_question.gif

all i know is to install the mac osx, i need a myhack usb installer,
..& mac osx running - 2 install the myhack usb installer?
is that true?  icon_question.gif

& then what i need to do next? on startup, attach the USB (with myhack installed?)

or.. do i just insert the dvd onto the dvd rom drive & install mac?

NOTE: i've the downloaded the myhack USB installer
& also have a snow leo DVD with me right now..

right now searching "driver"s that might can support my own laptop..

below is what i've found on the internet so far,
Snow Leo With MyHack

TIA

there are so many guides out there, I don't really keep up with it. Your best best is to search the internet for the most recent guides to install SL 10.6.3

I think iBoot + Multiboot is a pretty updated way to install.

You can either install via a USB, or direct from the original DVD.

Follow the guides, most of them are pretty straight forward.

I have a gigabyte G31-S2M over here, and for some reason after installing 10.6.4, my hackintosh has trouble rebooting (it hangs), and when I change settings in BIOS, after telling it to restart, it also hangs.

I don't know if this is a DTST issue, can someone advise?

If ur DSDT work well on 10.6.3 should be no problem on 10.6.4
mostly is sleepenabler ...need to use new version sleepenabler.kext
see post #2377 got link there..... download and install it
boot with -v -f ....if still hang..take a photoshoot pic and post here .
*
I was thinking it was sleepenabler, but I already installed the one provided at the link. I can shutdown/logout fine, its only restarting. It freezes at the blue screen and I have to manually restart the computer.

Do you think its a possible hardware/bios problem? I was able to overclock my computer to 3ghz (from 2.40 ghz before), but now it keeps on defaulting back to 2.40 ghz everytime I modify the clock speed in bios. Really strange.

*
No, I'm not using OpenHaltRestart.kext. Everything was working fine with 10.6.2.

E/E are:

EvOreboot.ket
FakeSMC.kext
IONetworkingFamily.kext
LegacyALC883.kext
NullCPUPowerManagement.kext
Sleepenabler.kext

Thanks for the help.

Digswell, Gengstapo, Latwork, OmniAtlas, and other hackintosh user around, do have problem printing after waking up from sleep?

I seem to have that problem, after my pc wakes up from sleep i cant print, error sending data to printer comes out.

Btw its usb canon ip1300 printer. Never get a chance to test with other printer, the only printer i have.

hope to get some feedbacks.
*
hm, now that you mention it, I did have a problem printing.

I had to restart the printer serveral times, and resent the print job because it wouldn't go through. Don't know if its sleep related...

You should try and use a DSDT patched on your system so you get the best results.

hmm..anyone can suggesting any BT dongle that will work OOB and can get it easily here..  icon_question.gif thx for advanced

I recommend the Targus BT (make sure you get the old model, not the mini version). Its officially supported by Apple, and wake with wireless keyboard + mouse work out of the box.

Theres an official apple doc somewhere around the web recommending the Targus, but I don't remember the exact link. Google is your friend.
