nice! perhaps u could list down ur personal thought regarding the installation of osx upon s10. might help the community, atleast for sharing info

gud luck bro smile.gif
*
Finally, manage to install OS X on the s10. Basically I've got 80% things working, intel gma950 with QE/CI, sound, wifi, bluetooth, headphones, usb, webcam, touchpad with single tap and fans working. Whats not working is ethernet port, microphone and sleep. Havent try the card reader yet.

Method use, Retail dvd 10.5.4 (MBR mod) with boot132 usb to boot and chameleon bootloader.

Things needed:

1. Buy Retail DVD 10.5.4, edit it to allow to install on MBR disk.
2. External usb dvdrom
3. Generic boot 132 iso. Get it here

Followed this thread here, to install retail on the s10. The only difference is i convert my retail dvd to allow install on MBR disk . Guide here Follow the part to modify the DVD to install on MBR only.

The reason i choose MBR is i would like to dual boot with Win xp. Win XP wont install on a Guid Partition Table disk.

Overall not bad for a netbook running OS X.

Many thanks to the peeps at insanelymac and s10lenovo.com

Here are some screeniess!!

considering that perhaps i should have start saving
lol
well if thats the case think i should start working on the dual boot and stuff
thanks mate

Hi,

From your specs you should be able to install retail with boot132 without much of a problems......just that you need to disable the onboard graphics and get at least a 9800gt or the older 86 or 88 cards. That should work great with your specs.

i couldn't get my motherboard to boot from the USB. maybe its the settings. USB-HDD / USB-ZIP /USB-FDD?

anyway i did manage to boot from the generic.iso Boot 132 disc and installed OSX Retail 10.5.6 but only AFTER removing the video card and plugging into the onboard VGA output jack.

my problem now is implementing PC EFI / Chameleon. from PCWIZ
the bootloader will jump into the apple logo boot screen and get stuck there. Nothing else happens after.

Haven't even had the opportunity to setup the other kexts - sound & video

Can anyone tell me what is wrong?
*
Boot with -v and see whats the error. Could be waiting for root device. After u install Chameleon/PC EFI, did you install the necessary system kext? AppleDecrypt.kex, Disabler.kext and SMBIOSEnabler.kext?

And your modified kexts are they installed in a separate folder or in the /S/L/E folder?

can i just use this from PCWIZ instead?
user posted image
it has AppleDecrypt.kext , Disabler.kext and OpenHaltRestart.kext as default kext listed.
can't seem to select the other options eg DSDT patch or extensions.mkext

i assume the INSTALL CUSTOM KEXT FROM HD option is where i pull in all the Sound and etc kexts, yeah?
*
Yes u can use the universal installer by PCWIZ.

Yeah the "INSTALL CUSTOM KEXT FROM HD" is where u put in all the sound and etc kexts, since you say you`re able to boot with generic.iso, why not try install the kexts from the generic.iso exclude dsmos.kext and IntelCPUMDisabler.kext (dsmos and appledecrypt has the same functions so is disabler.kext and IntelCPUMDisabler), try it and see whether it works.

BTW, try to boot with -v to single out problems.

Thanks for the quick reply, friend want to sell a Mac Box set very cheap to me and since my ancient Mac cannot use, i start think of building a Hackintosh. Ok, how about about the graphic cards, only nvidia? not ATI? Thinking of HD4850 but if cannot whats the best nvidia to run video editing programs?
Err... any problems to work with Wacom Bamboo Fun?
*
AFAIK, there are no drivers for HD4850 yet. The best graphic card supported by hackintosh is the 9800gtx+. Could get it working with full QE/CI with minor driver installation. Same goes for the 9800gt and below and 8800 series.

cheers!

QUOTE(Andiboi @ Mar 10 2009, 11:02 PM)
my case here similar to paladin.
the more i read, the more i confuse.
i thought everyone in insanelymac using a 'retail disc install', then ended up reading all those modified osx guide and information. lolz.
so genstapo, u're using a modified osx?.
'retail disc instal', is it easier than just installing the modified one?
@outdoorxplorer
have any ur friend using biostar mobo with efi-x?. how's the resut? was planning to buy that at first. but found got boot123 method which also can do the same thing.
correct me if i'm wrong.
*
Andiboi,

I suggest u install one of the modified distro`s first to see which works better for yr mobo (iPC,iAtkos, kalyway). Because i think efi-x does not support yr mobo its not on their compatibility list. Basically what efix can do the u can do it with the boot132 method as well. I suggest u install modified distro first to see which distro suits yr hardware, from there on u can extract the kexts and build yr own boot132 disc and use the retail disc to install retail.

As for hackintosh users, the ati 4870 will be supported in the next update 10.5.7 thumbup.gif. On top of that, cant wait for the latest chameleon. That should be the efi-x killer, customizable bootloader with gui brows.gif

PS: bizkutrai , im on the ip35-e too, quite a nice board for hackintosh eh, not much of a problem installing retail on it. Btw ure on chameleon rite? modified kext in efi partition or folder on root?

yeah PM me the tutorial on getting the kext the OSX hidden partition too.

another thing, how do i do a clone of the good OSX installation onto an external harddisc for future external restore instead of having a reinstall from the Boot132 + Retail DVD?
*
Guide for Retail install with EFI partition. Thanks to Munky of Insanelymac forums. HERE

After you`ve install leopard on your hard disk you can clone it with Carbon copy cloner. You can then restore back the image later if you got problems. Even better if you have your bootloader on another partition.

QUOTE(Draconian Paladin @ Mar 18 2009, 04:48 PM)
Hello people. I had finally get a copy of iATKOS 1.0. I had basically waste the whole evening yesterday trying to figure out how to get it to work. Finally I manage to install it.

However, there remains one big problem. I can't boot into it! I can boot into Windows 7 alright, without the need to repair it but I just can't boot into Mac OS.

I had tried to use bcdedit with elevated command  prompt. When I try to boot it, it shows me a "Windows is loading files" which is from Windows 7 installation screen. Then after that it black out and restart.

I then download EasyBCD, and add a Mac entry. What happen is it show me a black screen and say something about the path not existing or something. The path is set by EastBCD as /NST/ma*somethingelse*.mbr
So, I change the path to Chain0, but it give me "Chain booting error" when I try to boot.

I am out of idea of how to make it boot. Anyone have any idea? Help is much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Drac.

Boot with your iatkos dvd. Go to terminal :-

sudo -s

type diskutil list (take note of the disk and partition number that u install osx on )

./fdisk -e /dev/rdiskX (where X is the appropriate disk identifier)

f 1 (where 1 is the first partition of the disk)

w

y

q

reboot, now you should be able to os x installation. Boot with -f -v.

You should have the option to choose to boot vista partition or osx partition.

cheers!

Why not try the latest version of iatkos_5i? Btw what are your pc/notebook specs?

Need more details from you, what are your hardware specs? What distro are you using? Which kernel did you choose during installation? If possible try the speedstep kernel or voodoo kernel.

Should be able to work, try iatkos_5i. At the customise part choose, pc efi, intel vga efi strings for your graphic card, sata driver, OpenHaltRestart.kext and read thru the description for other options that needed to be install.

ok.... i try it 1st... but not now....

bz period...

thanks alot
*
BTW yr chipset is intel GM965 eh, with the GMA X3100. Make sure u select intel > X3100 efi strings. After installing your screen will be blank, happens on most of the gma x3100 graphics card. Screen will be blank everytime you restart. When its blank just close the lid and wait for 15-20 minutes. Come back after 20 minutes and complete the registration wizard. Once inside os x go to spaces and set "sleep display" on one of the hot corners. So everytime you restart just move your mouse to the hot corner that uve set and u`ll have yr display back.

Alternatively u can try this Sleeptrick

cheers!

Anyone can make this work in Compaq V3700 series ??

Whats the specs of your desktop/laptop bro? Is it this:-

Compaq Presario V3700 is a cool 14.1-inch mobile laptop with only 2.5kg weight. It has the Intel Centrino Duo processor technology with Intel Core 2 Duo T5550 processor .It has enough large hard drive for your data(250GB) and is equiped with all necessary I/O ports.
It’s detailed specs are:
Intel Core 2 Duo processor T5550,1.83 GHz , 2 MB L2 Cache, 667 MHz FSB
2GB DDR2 667 MHz Standard memory (up to 4GB)
250GB SATA hard disk drive
SuperMulti 8X DVD±R/RW with Double Layer Support
5-in-1 integrated Digital Media Reader for Secure Digital cards, MultiMedia cards, Memory Stick, Memory Stick Pro, or xD Picture cards
High speed 56K modem
Integrated 10/100BASE-T Ethernet LAN
Intel® PRO/Wireless 3945ABG Network Connection
Bluetooth®
3 USB 2.0, VGA, RJ-11, RJ-45, TV-Out (S-video), Expansion Port 3, Headphone out, Microphone in, IEEE 1394 Firewire, Consumer IR, AC adapter
14.1-inch WXGA High-Definition HP BrightView Widescreen Display(1280×800)
Intel Graphics Media Accelerator X3100 graphcs card with Up to 358MB Total Available Graphics Memory

If yes, might work with iatkos_5i distro. You can try ipc 10.5.6 distro as well.

Make sure to select SATA driver at the customize section, efi strings for intel x3100 graphics.

Should able to work with some tweaking here and there.

You can start with kalyway distro first, if time permits try others as well ideneb, iPC or iatkos. Make sure u read the particular distro`s readme file.

BTW chameleon 2.0 RC1 rocks!! fully customizeable GUI. heck they even have a ala boot camp like GUI.
