IT jobs require highly specific skills. You experience in IBM system may not be useful to Microsoft or Google.

Even if you stay up to date, your boss can still hire younger people at half your salary. When it comes to new skills, you don't have much advantage to your juniors.

The problem is that there are so many MNC in the same sector. If one doesn't transfer technology to China, another one will.

Take high speed rail for example: Japanese refused to transfer technology to China, but Europeans did. Now China has leapfrog both Japan and Europe.
