As someone with occasional bouts of dry eyes (never done any surgery before, wouldn't dare do), I empathise with you. Driving at night for you will be out of the question for now, right?

QUOTE(lijor the great @ Mar 5 2021, 12:07 PM) Yup, long drives are especially worse. I suppose we blink less when driving on hw. QUOTE(Starbucki @ Mar 5 2021, 12:08 PM) When eyes are too dry, vision will not be sharp. Sometimes can see "double lines", macam astigmatism case Lubricants only helps momentarily. |

QUOTE(Lanchio @ Mar 5 2021, 12:50 PM) Sorry to hear your predicament. TS wrote:I believe you would have signed a consent form before surgery. This standard form would have included that you have read and understand the risks involved. It would be difficult to sue them if you have voluntary signed this form. FYI, this 2010 study states "Chronic dry eye persisting six months or more after LASIK was diagnosed in 28 per cent of Asian eyes and 5 per cent of Caucasian eyes (p < 0.001). Asian patients with chronic dry eye were predominantly female, reported dry eye symptoms, had greater ocular surface staining and lower tear secretion, stability and volume before surgery. After LASIK, Asian eyes had a slower return to preāoperative values for ocular surface staining, tear volume and corneal sensation." Asians are 5.6 times more susceptible to chronic dry eyes post op. 2010 Study Since the surgery has been done, it would be almost impossible to reverse the post op dry eyes. QUOTE I submitted a complaint to the hospital against their doctor for not informing or even testing me for dry eyes and not even having a post surgery mitigation plan in place for it. Dry-eyes condition is part of the assessment from what I read here: https://www.optimax2u.com/preparations-for-lasik.php![]() |

QUOTE(Starbucki @ Mar 5 2021, 03:14 PM) When you put lubricant, you may also see lines - imagine you use car wipers at night. Or imagine driving with tears in your eyes. It relieves the sting of dry eyes and once it dries out (again, imagine your tears drying out time) the sting will slowly come back. |

QUOTE(lurkingaround @ Mar 5 2021, 07:11 PM) . I stopped wearing for years. Still experience dry eyes occasionally.https://www.visiondirect.co.uk/eye-care-cen...-contact-lenses "Why do contact lenses give you dry eyes? When wearing contact lenses your eyes can dry out. Slightly different to dry eyes syndrome, contact lens induced dry eyes (CLIDE) occurs because the thin layer of contact lens material on your cornea limits oxygen flow to the eyes. Without a steady flow of oxygen your eyes struggle to develop natural tears. Unfortunately, as a contact lens wearer you are predisposed to sometimes experiencing dry eyes. However, modern day contact lenses are designed to be as porous as possible to allow more oxygen to reach the eye, and this goes some way to reducing the impact of CLIDE." . |

QUOTE(Hunakadoo @ Mar 6 2021, 11:41 AM) even get a lawyer , also quite hard to put this case to court or win the cases But TS said they did not check for dry eyes before surgery. Those with dry eyes are not recommended to go for it.basically dry eye is one of the side effect from this SMILE or LASIK surgery . and doctor for sure did explain before start the surgery OR it stated inside the documents that TS signed . |

QUOTE(adam71 @ Oct 24 2023, 05:26 PM) What is dry eye? Is this illness come when getting old?....I sometime eye pain when driving without wearing sunglass...during sunny day. It literally means eyes feel dry. Like blowing aircon right into them. It's not really "painful", just uncomfortable and you feel like closing the eyes. |
