IC (Chứng minh nhân dân)
Single Status Letter (Giấy xác nhận tình trạng hôn nhân)
Passport, yours and hers. (Hộ chiếu)
Birth Certificate (Giấy khai sinh)

1. Get the single status letter and birth certificate from the Ủy ban nhân dân (The People's Committee) in your fiance's hometown. Get the legal stamping.

2. Bring both letters to Sở Tư Pháp or Phòng Tư Pháp (Department of Justice) in your fiance's hometown. They will need to be translated into English and stamped.

3. Once you get the translated single status letter and birth certificate, go to Sở Ngoại Vụ (Ministry of Foreign Affairs) in either Ho Chi Minh or Hanoi. Give them the translated documents to be legalized.

4. Once you have all the translated documents, go to the Malaysian Embassy. They will need photocopies of your passport, your fiance's IC, legalized translated documents.

What you need to know:
1. You have to get the initial documents from your fiance's hometown. If your fiance stays in Da Lat, you can't go to Tuyen Quang's UBND office to ask for any of the documents.
2. Every department will require 1 photocopy of the documents you are going to submit.
3. Every department will require photocopy of your passport and/or fiance's IC.
4. Every stamping has a fee.
5. Every document has a working days period. It is clearly stated in the receipt so only collect it on the said date and time.

went to vietnam embassy today

meet a helpful agent that teach me quite some stuff.

1) we will have to go to JPN putrajaya to talk self letter (single letter) to prove that ownself havent married yet
2) go back to embassy of vietnam and pay Rm870 fees to chop and get the letter to get married.
3) go to putrajaya department of foreign affairs and pay Rm ?? to get the letter to get married.
4) go to imigresen department to get the letter from foreign affairs to be chop
5) bring the 2 letter and your wife to JPN PJ ( or wherever you are from to register the date of marriage
6) wait for the approve date to get married. ( finger cross hope that it is less than the 30 days visitor pass of my soon to be wife)

FYI, the GF she is from Thừa Thiên Huế

So, my question is:

1) Getting the single declaration status from gf side. Based on above quote, the gf need to go the "The People Committee" (her hometown), then "Department of Justice" (her hometown), then to "Ministry of Foreign Affairs" at Ho Chi Minh or Hanoi. The problem here is, Thừa Thiên Huế is middle of both city (at least 500km away from both city), is there any alternative beside going to the one of the city?

2) For gf side, after getting all the require document (Single Status Letter, IC, Passport, Birth Certifcate). When she visit the Vietnam Embassy in Malaysia(for stamping). Does she need to provide the original copy of IC, Passport and Birth Certificate? Can she bring only photocopy of IC and Birth Cert to the embassy?

About rm1000 including translation to English and stamping
Birth cert, VN-Id , Passport , MyKad , and my
Single status letter from JPN printed in Putrajaya

They have the word template already, just change particulars
and print it. Easy money.

I think probably my friend will follow your method as it is quite a hassle to get the Single Status Letter from Vietnam plus both of them are in Malaysia now.

Anyway, does both BF and GF need to present when visit the Vietnam Embassy?

Do you agree to support her family in Vietnam with a fixed monthly amount? If you refuse all the marriage documents in the world won't stop her from leaving you.

I guess TS must be aware of this compulsory requirement. Don't play play with Viet girls. Her family is more important to her than her husband or children.

Well, me and our group of friend did sit down and discuss/talk/advice(whatever you name it) to him but at the end of the day it was his decision. So, as his best man and his friend, all I can do is respect his decision and give my best wishes to him.

Better learn how to divorce too if she ran away with your friend money or their kid later. Serious.
