Do you agree to support her family in Vietnam with a fixed monthly amount? If you refuse all the marriage documents in the world won't stop her from leaving you.

They've been dating for 5 years, and now it comes down to marriage. I suppose this part of it should have been covered beforehand hmm.gif

Hard to say, after marriage can easily blackmail the husband to pay, because divorce is not easy

If there's so much worry, I guess signing of a Prenup agreement before marriage could possibly help?

My opis 2 colleagues also married vietnamese, and a friend also married a Vietnamese lady. So far okay, no negative stories biggrin.gif

I am currently in the midst of registering for me and filipino gf. What we did was go to nearest JPN and get the required documents for marriage.

Step 1: Foreign national need to have single status from their respective embassy or country, they will need to provide birth cert etc (required document she can search on her own gov website and get it done at Vietnam first).
My case is, my GF did all the paperwork and sent the documents via her parents at Philippines for stamping. Then they (her parents) sent the documents over to msia.

Step 2: Then after the stamping is done at their respective country, you (msian husband/wife) need to go JPN to get single status cert and go to Ministry of Foreign Affairs at Putrajaya for stamping. I paid total RM10 i think for the stamping and swearing in that the msian husband/wife is single at Putrajaya, located on the ground floor of the JPN Putrajaya Building.

Step 3: Filipinos need to send their cert with my single status to their Embassy in Malaysia for processing for 14 days. In which after that is done, they will provide a letter stating that the pair is ready for marriage.

Step 4: You will need to set appointment to go back to JPN and fill up the JPN Marriage cert and submit to JPN. They will check and post it up on their board for 21 days (I think) and if no objections, they will contact u for the date on when you will be officially married.

So far I am in Step 3 with my gf. We are waiting for her cert. So yeah. This is for Filipino. Im not sure about Vietnam. Need to check with JPN, they will inform you. Because the regulations always change.

Good luck and have fun! x)

Nop, my wife is Vietnamese

Her mother side family = 6/9 uncles and auntie were millionaire (seriously rich)

If I were to compare my family networth with her family, mine is like B20 while her family like T20

I think probably my friend will follow your method as it is quite a hassle to get the Single Status Letter from Vietnam plus both of them are in Malaysia now.

Anyway, does both BF and GF need to present when visit the Vietnam Embassy?

so did your friend do his wife single status cert at Vietnam Embassy in Malaysia? Mind share. My side may need to go through the whole process soon
