Does updating to MIUI 14 wipe off all the data in the phone? (assuming the update process is smooth without problem)

just noticed my F3 battery bloated -- the back casing almost popping out. called Service Center and i think so far in Klang Valley, all no stock.

cost will be about rm140+... based on Xiaomi website, rm40+ for battery, rm60+ for labour and another rm30+ for accessories (i think for glue seal, etc)

not cheap. is there any Service Day for Xiaomi? I know Honor and Huawei used to have...

nope. usually won't. mine upgraded without issue.

but usually, major updates like this, i do prefer to reset and reinstall.

Damn, how old is your phone and what is the battery health percentage? I thought they don't charge for accessories, just battery and labour, ~RM110. Unless you confirmed in call?

i got this unit end of 2021 while waiting for my Mi 10T Pro to be fixed (they later gave me a new Mi 11T Pro). so, that's less than 1.5years old.

only noticed it recently, but i think it bloated like a few months back (had let family member use it instead since i got the replacement mi 11t pro) coz already felt something not right but didn't check back then.

anyway, confirmed it's rm140+ coz spoke to the person on the phone and was asking them to help check if got stock (thats's also why i know Klang Valley no stock at the moment). i guess logical since need to open back case and then seal it back. but dem... rm30+ for accessories feels a lot. would have expected them to bundle it with the rm60 labour...

Wah means about a year+ of use then bloated. Heavy usage? Physical damage from drops?

Wtf is accessories? The glue? Lmao RM30 for just glue they better give me the whole damn can. I would have thought labour is all there is, please don't tell me accessories is their tools lmao.

rm 30 is for diagnostics as per below post
rm 60 labour
rm49 battery

which brings it to around rm140.

no idea if just change battery also need to do apalanjiao diagnostic or not or you can insist dont need it

QUOTE(White2000 @ Feb 16 2023, 02:09 PM)
RM348 for screen + RM60 labor - RM30 diagnostic (RM 30 paid when handing over your phone).

I didn't replace battery but official service center follows standard prices so RM48.86, but likely 49+30+30 when in your bill. IE: Official screen price is RM347.90 but charged 348+30+30.

Maybe fast charging at such high wattages degrades the battery quickly

Am worried about those crazier models with like 120W fast charging

i dun think these are the cause. probably just unlucky. i know some phone brands have bloated battery problems more than other brands.

some, used for like 3 years and no issues. some... almost 1.5 year 1 new battery... :S

Just new power bank and when charging poco it shows quick charge instead of mi turbo.

My question is does quick charge is charging as same speed as mi turbo using the plug?

Quick charge means my powerbank don't support mi turbo or I need to change the cable?

Mi Turbo is kinda proprietary and probably you can only find from original xiaomi brick + cable

It is probably falling back to 18W QC3 fast charging

still fine tbh, but its not Mi Turbo 33W

Anyone have the problem of dropped calls since the past few months?
My calls are repeatedly dropped spontaneously as a caller and also a receiver, sometimes after a few seconds, sometimes after few minutes. I changed telco, tried in different states, and of course restarted the phone, reinserted the sim card...everything was tried and yet the problem persisted. But call using WhatsApp, google meet are all OK. The signal was most of the time full or at least 3 bars.

Similar problem in a another forum
https://www.reddit.com/r/PocoPhones/comment...ng_phone_calls/

Anyone have solution?

Damn OTA update for MiUi 14 until now still hasn't shown up. Slowpoke Xiaomi, might just manually update it.

You can get it by going Settings > Additional settings > Region

Then randomly pick country since most other countries got it already IE Singapore/Thailand/etc.

Then check for updates, it should appear. After download and update finish then can change region back to Malaysia.

I also still havent got, you could manually download the zip file from the links above, then tap on the miui logo a few times in updater, it will enable a few more settings, 1 allowing you to manually select an update zip file to install

The above method from White2000 works too. Changed to Singapore and instantly had the update available.

So far I feel no difference, maybe some movement of the options in settings and that's about it. Everything else also looks the same. First issue I'm seeing is that the refresh rate isn't as adaptive as before, e.g. Netflix is locked to 120hz even in full screen.

On a side note, Maxis users may rejoice as VoWifi now works on the F3. Done and tested.

Will have to see how battery life fairs after a couple of days.
