So this morning ayam got video call for work.
As usual ayam will wear formal on top an boxers at bottom and no one is at home todei.

Then suddenly while ayam halfway tok and ayam punya anjir bark and it goes on for minutes and disrupt ayam punya speech.
Normally if mailman or waste collector, the barking only last less than a minute je. So ayam checking on cctv via phone and saw 2 guy with vest and neighbour who stay 2 doors away toking at my front gate.

So ayam excuse myself and quickly wear pants and rush down and angrily in mind thought of how should i tell them to move away.
In english - "Can u move further away please, my dog are barking non shop."
In cantonese coz that neighbour speak with me before in that language - "Ooii.. sei 7 yun tit mou? Kau fai tho, ho lan chou ahhh!" (can move further away? Dog barking, is very noisy.

So while going towards my front gate i overheard itu neighbour say " Lei tei pin tho ho yi sau so toe kam yong?" (How can you collect debt till like that?)
Upon reach my front gate, i politely ask them to move further away please. And saw the two guy punya vest ada "Debt Collector" word.
Then all of them say "ohh sorry ah sorry" and raised their palm as a gesture.

Then ayam rush back up to continue the video call and thinking to ask in our community wassap thread to beef up the security, worry also if got case throw paint or start faiya..

Legal ones only cause emotional embarrassment and loss of face.
Illegal ones you could get that plus more.

So the legal one at most only can show up at home or work place to ask for repayment? No other dangerous stuff, right?

Legal ones are the ones that telco companies (maxis, digi, celcom) go for to collect bad debts. They call you non-stop and then send you threats and lawyer letter.

Illegal ones come with red paint and molotov when you are sleeping midnight

Telco companies also will hire debt collector? Worth it mean meh? I thought at most only thousands ringgit for telco bills.

Rather than losing that entire debt amount, they sell it to legal debt collectors for a small fraction of the amount. Now from 0, at least they gain back some money from your debts.
Then the legal debt collectors will chase you for the full amount and earn from the margin difference.

Some legal debt collectors do by commission. If they can make you pay your debt, they get a percentage commission as well.

Imagine you alone owe one thousand, if 100,000 people owe the same amount, imagine how much the debt each telco holds.

I see. So what is their way or method to collect the debts aside from calling or showing up at home or work place?

It depends on who handles your case la. Small amount they will just call you and send you lawyer letter (usually applicable to telco debts).

If big amount, they can go unethical ways even though they are called legit debit collectors. Some will harass your parents, harass your gf, harass your siblings, call them non stop, put banner everywhere. Imagine if you fierce a bit, then can collect few thousand as salary, easy job who dont want to do?

Then if this go overboard, how and what is the correct way for them to protect themselves aside from making police report?
