Received a call from TM which proposed that I switch from Maxis Fibre to Unifi and offer rebates as compensation for early termination.
The guy also ask if my other homes also use Maxis and would I switch to Unifi?
Is this legit? Aren't they partners?
I think when you sign up for Maxis Home Fibre, your information is shared to TM (the installer guy for the fibre is from TM, he has a copy of the info).
So TM will provide your info to UNIFI so they can offer to jump to UNIFI.
I heard from a friend, when someone signs up Maxis Fibre, TM needs Maxis to commit to 2 years contract and if early termination, Maxis has to pay TM the remaining duration in full. And note that when customer early terminate, they only need to pay Maxis i think RM500. Let say the 2 years contract cost for Maxis to TM is RM50x24 = RM1200. Customer early termination = RM500. If the customer terminate on 1st month ... then Maxis will automatically lose RM650 to TM cause they need to pay TM the remaining contract period. The reason why every time we sign up fibre needs to be bonded 2 years because TM mandates minimum 2 years commitment from UNIFI and MAXIS so UNIFI and MAXIS channel the requirement to their customers.
TM openly can con Maxis money using this scheme via UNIFI.
It's a very smart con job indeed but i guess there is no proof that TM shares data to UNIFI, obviously TM won't admit they share and UNIFI won't admit they receive the data either. And we know UNIFI = TM hahaha ...
