Hey all,

My Macbook developed a few hairline cracks on the sides. It's not really that noticable but I'm afraid the crack would get larger!

What are the contact/address for Apple service centre in the Klang Valley? Do I need to make an appointment?

thanks

I try to use Parallel and VMWare Fusion to run windows on my MacBook but seems that both application could not do 3D acceleration, because of GMA950, I wonder MBP should not have same problem right? I think Parallel or Fusion is the best way around since is's pain to restart each time want to use different OS, and if in Windows/Linux then forgot some files in Mac OS, have to restart again!
*
MBP also will have the same problem. Its not about the graphic card but the software itself. At the the moment, parallels and vmware have not supported 3D yet thus Aero desktop on vista is not possible. The only way is by Bootcamp.

@Frenly

The best bet is to max your RAM on MBP. Mine with 2GB also is insufficient. Its like running windows xp on PIII machine. smile.gif

The latest VMware Fusion beta does have support for 3D acceleration, but at only DirectX 8 level. Not sure how much of an improvement that will be on Vista since I only run XP. You can download the beta for free to try it out.

I agree about the RAM though, I'm now up to 3GB and am happier biggrin.gif

yeah. wrong info. vmware does support 3D but aero desktop still not possible

All in all, how's the performance like in Parallels on a 2GB macbooks?

2 GB (around RM 180) of memory doesn't sound to expensive now, but the price jump to 4 GB (around RM 860) is a bit too much for me to pay at the moment. smile.gif
*
Just imagine running windows xp with 256mb ram on a PIII 866MHz rig. And for the RAM price u quote i think its a normal RAM not the macbook specified RAM. Just remember that our macbook requires a special ram made for apple not the normal ram for the 'cap ayam' notebook. smile.gif

Apple requires special RAM? Correct me if I'm wrong, since both pc and mac is running on the same platform, why does the mac requires different ram?

As for the RAM price above, the one going for that price is Mushkin. They're a cap ayam company now? smile.gif
*
Sorry smile.gif . wrong term. although pc and mac are both on the same platform, they will require specific RAM made for macbook, imac, macpro, MBP or the mini. let say if u purchased the normal RAM from low yatt, the RAM will work but for long term or handling extensive memory hungry apps will make your macbook hang. it can be any brand from kingston, crucial, samsung or any well known brand but u have to make sure that its meant for macbook. u can browse around the apple.com official forum and the mac users experienced problems when using they use normal RAM on their apple hardware. for mine, i'm using both samsung.

using the KVR RAM here...
so far so good!

for me, purchasing the expensive RAM
that officially "Work" (for long term) with the apple computer is a lil bit pricey for me...
unless u are rich enuf to buy those kind of RAM..

p/s-->no offense here smudger14.. rolleyes.gif

it's ok. i get my stuff online. so, kinda escape the mark up price for ram.

i'm just curious, why does mac products here sold much more expensive than US?

I couldn't figure that one out, either.  Supposedly there are no tariffs charged on the importation of computer products into Malaysia, so that's likely not the reason.  I hear that it's Apple's decision to mark up prices in Malaysia.
*
i think to increase the percentage of mac users in m'sia is by selling same price as they are selling in USD. for example, macbook ram.....they are selling 1gb module ranging from rm500-rm700 shocking.gif. where as the same brand and model selling in online stores are in the range of rm300 only. any opinions?

it's too expensive. around rm800 to rm1000 to replace it. moreover it will take a week to get the parts arrived. have to opt another option.

Hey guys, is it normal that it took like 20-30 sec (estimation) to restart/shut down? iirc before the updates, my macbook restart/shut down almost instantly unsure.gif

Also one more thing, whenever I boot up osx my mouse sensitivity always change back to default instead of the settings I configured. Any solution to fix this problem? abit mafan to change the settings everytime laugh.gif

my macbook took 30 sec ti startup and less than 7 sec to shut down. i guess yours is normal too.
