just to share my woes... i'm noob to my macbook..

it died on me twice... upon reboot, it shows the infamous question mark over the folder icon... it seems like it cannot find the startup disk. Did disk repair, permission cleanup, reset PRAM.. all doesn't help.

In the end, I reinstalled MAC OSX... so far so good.. finger crossed.
