Just rephrasing Raven_lee's question.

Will office programs like word, excel and powerpoint run properly on macbook pro?

Also, how easy is it to switch from windows to mac? Is the mac really as hassle free as advertised? Am not a power user, just need a machine with a beautiful screen that runs fast.

There are MAC version of Microsoft Office.
Though i believe most of us here is using OpenOffice or other opensource, which might have some formatting/layout issue with MS Office.

Hassle free, erm.. well yeah. Everything is quite simple with MAC OSX. You just need some time to get used to it.

Thanks for the quick reply.

But lets say I'm using mac office, can the mac office files be opened in windows office immediately, or will there be formatting problems? (e.g. paragraph indentations, etc.)

Basically, will there be a problem in using mac office, in a windows office environment?

Also, are there any macbook pro 15" users here who've had any stability/durability problems? I travel frequently and will not be able to pop in to a service center as and when i feel like it. So durability is a key issue for me.

Head to www.applemalaysia.com.my and locate premium sellers. IMHO, I prefer to buy from premium sellers as they know their stuff. The past 2 authorised sellers store I entered was not very good at Macs.

For me, I bought mine from MacStudio in LowYat Plaza. They have the best deal too biggrin.gif

Also, since you stated in your other post that you travel a lot, why don't you consider getting a MB instead of a MBP? MBs are more than enough to do your office + house workload (word processing, presentations, watching movies, listening to songs etc)

Plan on keeping my next notebook for a long, long time. Not considering the 13 incher due to its less powerful specs. Would have purchased the dell xps m1330 if not for the horrible reliability comments i've been reading about dell's xps range of notebooks.

Anyone here using the glossy screen for long periods of time? Any eye fatigue after lets say, 4 hours of spreadsheet work on the macbook pro?

Inevitable, im at the computer 10 hours per day, well a bit more than your four, maybe a lot more, and yes, eye fatigue..
1) No, even when you say simple errands like surfing the net (safari), or having a chat client on (Adium), just the fact that you are running parallels will be more than the reason you upgrade the ram. I'm running "simple" errands and at idle state, my mac consumes about 50% of my memory capacity.

2) Sims 2 will work in Windows XP, hence parallel.

What about the matte screen? Anyone here who has used both matte and glossy? Does eye fatigue lessen if the matte screen is used?
