the misai type is his wiry coat... the more and the more even he better according to the breed standard...
shaving cuts it off, stripping and rolling the coat will leave this intact...
siu kat doesn't really have much of a second coat, but siu wan does... incidently she is white but this coat is black.
Added on September 19, 2007, 2:42 pmperhaps syrian will oblide us by inserting a proper breed standard on MS from one of the kennel associations in the first page...
Got the info in page #1. Read all the history, etc. .. a bit here and there.shaving cuts it off, stripping and rolling the coat will leave this intact...

Not entirely true Mr Mod...
The modern day MS is a legacy of his humble beginnings as a rat catcher. Why did those germans not keep cats i have no idea
The MS was expected to chase the rats thru bushes and right into their burrows. Hence the docked tail, the pointy cropped ears and dew claw removal. This is to stop the dog from getting tangled in thick undergrowth and thus injuring itself.
The cropped ears, coupled with the furry muzzle and bushy brows also served as armour against the rats attacks to the dogs face. Ditto the furry legs n chest area. All served as protection for the MS.
Nowadays owever, everything is cosmetic, and the only rats that my two furkids can catch are available from IKEA for around RM19 IIRC
