As far as I am aware, they've not brought in the iQoo range officially to MY.

Majority of the units sold, iQoo 5 etc are either thru sellers/importers.

These units have Chinese ROM but with Google PlayStore installable upon request. My unit works fine and able to use banking apps like M2U etc.

So far this model, I have seen the price hovering around RM2.5K to RM3K depending on the RAM/Storage.

Wow... Finally a IQOO thread. Been using Neo3 for almost 9 months and it's good. You can even install Google in V store.

The only thing annoying is they still always launch their Vivo app despite having change default launcher, browser. Also they store fonts in different location thus all those fonts you bought in Play Store can't be used.

App compatibility is also another thing. Most banking app are fine and also government app like iAkaun. I guess they had good developers. I have had problem getting mcdonalds app to get the deal QR. After 9 months, Mcdonalds finally fixed that. Now it's yoodo turn to have problem. Been using it for so long and suddenly it went phone not supported when app prompt to update.

Wow. Yea. Been looking high and low for an existing iQoo thread before I got my phone then saw there wasn't so might as well create one.

Yea, sometimes I had to reselect the default keyboard cos I've been using SwiftKey and somehow whenever I key in passwords etc, it defaults back to the Vivo keyboard. Very strange.

Thanks for the sharing bro! thumbup.gif

Even the default keyboard had two different version. The one that launched with typing password is a secure keyboard whereby the shift key works like caps lock. Then there is the default keyboard. The only reason I had to install Google keyboard is because the lack of swipe typing. Also the keyboard transition between alphabet, numbers then signal is a mess. I wonder why they cant do it better.

Im still waiting for the new UI. Vivo already had a new UI and I think IQOO might follow soon.

Ahh I see. Not too familiar with their built in apps cos some are in Chinese and I can't read it. Like the swipe left on home screen usually bring out the 'cards' or news on my previous OnePlus but here, it's all in Chinese. Haha.

One thing I found really weird is the super aggressive background tasks killer or their task manager.

I've had occasions where I missed instant replies on WeChat/Whatsapp/Telegram when the phone is not in use and screen is off on my desk/pocket. Only when I open the app, then the messages all came in. Happened many times already until I tried many things like enabling the notifications to go thru, setting the priority to high etc but still can't find the balance. I've never faced this issue with my previous phones though...

Yeah... but you can add whatsapp into exclusion list. I also missed a lot of whatsapp messages.

Ahh thanks for the tip.

I'll check again on the exclusion list. I remembered unticking everything or something to make sure it doesn't get silenced etc.

Interesting so far. Kinda prefer using gestures like swipe right/upwards etc after being so used to it on my previous phone.

As for the Origin OS, it's clean and quite a decent array of customisations too, especially the font!!! It was super annoying just how OnePlus refused to install any custom fonts unless I changed the launcher/rooted it. biggrin.gif

Yup, there's a dearth of 'English' info or reviews on this model though. A lot of the YT videos I've found so far are either fake reviews or comparison videos that are merely pics with statistics. Haha. So far the legit reviews I've seen for this phone are from FrankieTech, Izami Gadget etc.

Another update after 3 weeks of use.

My pet peeves so far:
1. Background task killer is super aggressive. I've missed out on instant notifications from Whatsapp/WeChat/Telegram/Shopee even after trying all sorts of steps to remove it from the task killer list - but no issues receiving SMS TAC notifications though. Kinda strange.

2. Sometimes snap MySejahtera QR codes takes slightly longer than usual - not sure if it's camera related or the surface has slight reflection hence unable to snap the QR code properly

3. Google Maps Location History totally absent. Cannot even add the phone to list of 'My Devices'. After some checking online, found out this issue is common across China ROM phones.

4. Phone's auto brightness not so 'smart' especially when using Waze in my car as the screen doesn't adjust automatically when struck by bright sun. Didn't have such issue with my prior phones.

5. Google Assistant only works with app and not be default since phone defaults to the Vivo Assistant every single time. Annoying!

Having said that...

So far the only blissful thing that I enjoy is that insanely fast charging time.

I do miss the almost bloatfree feeling I had with OnePlus's Oxygen OS...

Hey there.

I bought it from Shopee prior to CNY. Costs me around RM3K.

Phone comes with GMS and all but the only downsides were the items mentioned in my review - mostly the fact that voice assistant like Google Assistant can't be enabled by default since the phone is pretty much locked to using Vivo's own Jovi & Location History doesn't work on China ROM phones.

I saw some seller sell without gms that means have to self install already? What about ur notifications is it still not working as intended?

Charger need special adapter? I also want to buy this phone but my main concern is the notification... My last oppo phone also like this always miss out notification.

My unit comes with the adapter provided from the seller. You may check this seller out - Atom Digital.

Or if want cheaper, Fastech - I saw his pricing for the Legend White edition around RM2.7K already.

Hmm, the phone has GMS and Play Store. Not as bad as Huawei which totally doesn't have it.

As for the notifications, it's better but the background tasks killer still quite aggressive. I've resorted to putting the lock on the apps that I want to keep open whenever I use the Task Manager to clear those running apps. If really for notification, unlikely the iQoo 7 will be better than your previous phone bro.

I had no issues with the notifications on any of my prior phones before moving to this Vivo.
