Red alert! Look for Dell Premium Luxury cooler or Noctua NH-U9S (you will need to buy screws and modify it). "Upgrading terrible cooler" video above got some results.
*
i know that already.

this 1 is just a test run using igpu playing csgo.

later got cheap cooler then only upgrade. now using this rig for office work purpose only…haha.

At stock, unlimited powaaaa is 87C hahaha not too bad. Around 5c hotter than 3600 with the same case and 120aio. Guess i'll be focusing on the ram instead. shall wait for 240 aio only consider ocing the multiplier.

Now still very unstable cuz i just simply loaded the same ram setting from my previous 10400F. But looks like i just dapao gamernexus's 5950x@4.7 benchmark in F1 hmm.gif

for gaming wise, try disable hyper threading for more stable all single core turbo boost performance; lower latency, lower temp and lower power draw for multi core performance.

hyper threading is good when workloads that saturate all cores of the CPU like video rendering. if the game doesn't even use up all the physical cores, why bother to scheduling more threads on the same physical core.

of course turn off hyper threading will impact benchmark score for multi core performance.

no surprise. i know some companies bought a lot of i7 laptops for the workers who only run Teams, Excel and nothing else.
*
because only high spec got more ram and bigger ssd storage.

and most companies don't purchase "build-your-own" spec laptop.

just change from dell stock cooler to so called dell premium cooler....can't tame i7 but much better than stock 1.

well, it's not expensive though. RM113.30 for the heatsink fan and RM32.88 for the VRM heatsink.
some more dell no charge any shipping fee tongue.gif

Nice. Did you try with better paste?

How did you order it?
*
nope. i just use the pre-applied 1.

the fan speed like won't gain even for both stock and premium cooler, don't know where to adjust the fan curve.

online order from dell directly lo. buy dell already paid for the customer service support mah, must make use of it, haha.

parts number for heatsink fan VWD01 (ASSY,HTSNK,MNSTRM,95W,MT,7071)
parts number for vrm heatsink 612F7 (ASSY,HTSNK,VR-MS,MT,7080/8940)

well, the heatsink fan is 95w rated and that's why still not sufficient.

it's definitely normal temperature from stock cooler…haha.

haiyoo…stock cooler even not manage to cool down 2-core i3 many gens ago…

if users die die want to stick with cpu cooler, the only can do is disable hyper threading and limit cpu frequency at 3.8-4ghz

There are many users with huge balls, like using stock cooler for both intel and amd, running 3080 system with 600w psu, and best of all,  (altho mostly amd users) simply flashing mobo bios.

ya…saw damn lot pc build with tons of kedai tom yam rgb case fans…but using stock cpu cooler…don't know what those ppl think.

My 3770K at stock settings (~77W TDP) can be barely handled by the stock cooler it shipped with. There hasn't been any change to the stock cooler over the years since, apart from the 8-10 core Comet Lake and Rocket Lake CPUs shipping with a different, black coloured one that only performs marginally better.

smaller lithography node = bigger silicon lottery biggrin.gif

i guess smaller lithography node need higher voltage precision, so good vrm and bios are extremely important.

semi con fabs strike to get maximum yield for maximum profit, so even got abit cacat also sell to consumer je...if kaput then send rma lo...

cacat chip got more gate leakage and that cause higher power consumption and heat, so i make hypothesis that [lithography, binned chip, mobo bios + vrm power supply precision] are co-related in cpu failure.

improving your cpu cooling it is just mitigate the heat problem, it doesn't really solve the gate leakage problem if you keep on putting heavy load on it for long peiod. increasing voltage will just make it worse if your chip isn't good binned.

default factory bios set higher voltage because not all chip can run stable at lower voltage, that's why some ppl can clock higher with stock voltage, and some even can get better performance with undervolting.

like what chocobo7779 said, that's why we have warranty.

plenty, AMD seems to have such reliability. I myself "RMAed" mine before... 2nd chip also a bit "unstable".. by RMA means selling used and buying a new one lolol. Cuz im pretty sure AMD wont cover stability problems which is binning and degradation related.
the transistors also kaput faster so you also see alot of complains on ryzen degradation due to pushing those 7nm dies too much. So you wouldnt know how long it will last after the warranty period ends. These cpu dont seem like those 3000 series intel that can last for years. At least for intel's 14nm, they have a proven track record with broadwell.
*
ya...even the die can withstand high heat, the transistor will also degrade faster.

well, for productivity usage like rendering and video encoding, if the user's earning allows to upgrade cpu every 3 years then durability of the cpu isn't an issue. haha.

if casual user or newbie streamer/youtuber, you can always use NVENC or QSV to encode your videos, no need to stress your cpu seriously. ops...amd hardware encoding is piece of shit, has to rely on cpu raw power.

even NVENC and QSV already been introduced for so so so so so so so so long time already, there are still people unaware of this feature.

What's wrong with the AMD VCE? i've tried 1440p60 30mbps HEVC recording, honestly it does not look that bad,
But the recording is adding the input lag and AMD VCE video quality is not good as competitor.

cmos jumper enclosed inside heatsink and attached backlate. only way to access is unscrew the backplate.
*
i tot the blackplate got the pre-cut hole for the cmos jumper? just poke it then will reveal a hole?

my understanding was the cmos jumper access on backplate is purposely hidden from normal user. and expert user can poke a hole on backplate to gain access to it.
